One more verse from me (appropos to the Fourth of July holiday!) and then I'll wait for a couple days before I post the song to the Songbook. So, if you have another verse or two to add, go for it! (Please note that the "faggot" referred to in my verse is a bundle of sticks used to light a fire - look it up in your dictionary. I know about this because I was the proud faggot-bearer in my Campfire Girl troop - had a badge and everything!)

I was in Boy Scouts as a member and leader for almost 30 years, but I have to say I lost faith in them. It wasn't just the homosexual thing - it seems they have become a mouthpiece for right-wingers in many ways. I don't understand how that happened, since the Girl Scouts have been able to survive and still keep a fairly stable political/ideological balance.

Those on the UK side of the pond will know of the youngest section of Scouts (age 6-8) are 'Beavers' and do not rely on "The Jungle Book" to provide the leaders' names (for those that didn't recognise the origin of the name Akela)
This has resulted in one local 'colony' where the leaders are titled 'Red Beaver', 'Grey Beaver' & 'Brown Beaver'. Any relationship to hair colours may be purely coincidental!
