Subject: Love Mudcat From: Suzy Date: 16 Jul 97 - 09:16 AM I just love the forum and how easy it is to access and enter comments and even new threads. I've tried other chat groups. The go through all sorts of riggamarole getting you registered. Some send all the comments via e-mail to you, etc.. This is so nice, easy and quick. Thanks to the persons involved in keeping it going. We love you!! |
Subject: RE: Love Mudcat From: Sharon Date: 16 Jul 97 - 09:18 AM I agree with you Suzy. ARE there any others w;hich operate like this one? I haven't found any? |
Subject: RE: Love Mudcat From: Lidi Date: 16 Jul 97 - 11:19 AM Sharon, Me neither, I haven´t found any chatgroups like this one. I actually got pretty shocked when finding Mudcat. Didn´t think something like this existed. Lidi |
Subject: RE: Love Mudcat From: Max D. Spiegel Date: 23 Jul 97 - 01:00 AM Thank you very much. You probably haven't seen any like this, because I wrote it and nobody has bought it off me yet. No trouble. I am thinking now on how to improve it. There is a thread going about this, check it out if you have any suggestions.

Subject: RE: Love Mudcat From: Joe Offer Date: 23 Jul 97 - 01:51 AM You wrote this yourself, Max? Well, it's wonderful. I think all of us are grateful to you and Dick and Susan and whoever else. Can we send you virtual flowers, or something? I'm still ready to send a donation. Just tell us how. -Joe Offer- |
Subject: Donations From: Max Date: 23 Jul 97 - 03:17 AM There will be a thread and news on donations and the ideas for t-shirts posted in a day or two.

Subject: RE: Love Mudcat From: Laoise, Belfast Date: 23 Jul 97 - 05:22 AM Max, I've only been coming to this site for a couple of months (I'm a definite nubile) but from the first I was addicted. I'm amazed that there is no other "virtual Cafe" site like this on the net, but I have looked around before finding this site. I never thought I would find such an interactive site through folk music pages. Its a brilliant Idea. If I knew anything about computers (over and above typing) setting up forums such as this would be an ideal LIFE's WORK. May your ideas continue to flourish. Who is going to be designing the T-Shirts? Maybe you could have a competition (friendly of course) and all of you talented musicians out there could stretch your artistic ambitions to pen and ink and get drawing. Sorry if someone has already mentioned this in another thread. I thought the idea using the Mudcat was excellent - perhaps he could be playing the fiddle, wearing a celtic motif on his T-shirt and wearing groovy shades? Another thought - T-shirts could be personalised for extra dosh. I, too, love Mudcat! Laoise.

Subject: RE: Love Mudcat From: Laoise, Belfast Date: 23 Jul 97 - 09:32 AM To the anonymous person I'M SKUNDERED. (Belfast for taking a reddener) Laoise. |
Subject: RE: Love Mudcat From: suzy Date: 23 Jul 97 - 10:05 AM My curiosity got the best of me.......and "nubile" isn't in my small Websters Dictionary. So I don't know if I AM or NOT!! |
Subject: RE: Love Mudcat From: Date: 23 Jul 97 - 10:18 AM "(I'm a definite nubile) " lord knows, folk music could use more-but I thought Kiwi was the only one amoung us :-; (I couldn't resist-sorry) |
Subject: RE: Love Mudcat From: Whippoorwill Date: 23 Jul 97 - 10:28 AM Webster says: "Nubile - adj (of women) of an age or condition to marry." Or as my grandmother would have said, "husband-high and ready." It's all right, Laoise, I'm a newbie to the site, too. Now, what's a reddener? |
Subject: RE: Love Mudcat From: Laoise, Belfast Date: 23 Jul 97 - 10:35 AM God, I'm totally skundered! Suzy, in my dictionary nubile means "of marriageable age". I meant it in the sense of my being a "Newbie" as I have seen expressed in other threads. As far as marriageable age goes, yes I am but no way Jose! How 'bout you Sue? Kiwi, if you're reading this, do you get the feeling that we're being picked on for using interesting (perhaps not applicable) words. At least we're trying to sound intelligent! To the person who would rather remain anonymous ONCE IS ENOUGH ALREADY! Laoise, with a REALLY big reddender. |
Subject: RE: Love Mudcat From: Laoise, Belfast Date: 23 Jul 97 - 10:38 AM Whippoorwill, We were obviously looking up in the dictionary at the same time. A reddener is a blush of course! Laoise, still suffering. |
Subject: RE: Love Mudcat From: suzy Date: 23 Jul 97 - 02:54 PM well then, I am nubile also...... of the age.......and condition?? what would that mean... Maybe I'm a Pollyanna nubile |
Subject: RE: Love Mudcat From: Barbee Date: 23 Jul 97 - 02:59 PM I think I love all of you already. I think Suzy and I would be good friends, and Kiwi too. Suzy is so sweet, and Kiwi is so expressive and sensible. |
Subject: RE: Love Mudcat From: Bill in Alabama Date: 23 Jul 97 - 03:07 PM Laoise: Skundered! A fine word! While I never heard it used in my part of the Appalachian Mountains, it would certainly be at home in my native dialect! I, for one, am enjoying your use of the language; keep it up. |
Subject: RE: Love Mudcat From: anon (and glad of it right now) Date: 23 Jul 97 - 03:18 PM to Laoise: sincere apologies for the second post. It was a result of coming back an hour or so later and hitting 'reload' when the page did not come up. The machine posted 'form data' which happened to include my original post. I guess I am also skundered. I really intended to only make a wee joke. |

Subject: RE: Love Mudcat From: Joe Offer Date: 24 Jul 97 - 01:00 AM Laoise, what's "dosh"? (as in extra dosh for personalized shirts) If we pay attention to what you post, we might start understanding those Celtic songs we like so much. -Joe Offer- |
Subject: RE: Love Mudcat From: Alan of Australia Date: 28 Jul 97 - 04:07 AM Joe, Most Aussies my age would recognise dosh as the same as dough, filthy lucre etc. we might even call it money. Cheers, |
Subject: RE: Love Mudcat From: ALison Date: 28 Jul 97 - 07:49 AM Bout ye Laoise What's the crack? Haven't heard anyone say skundered in 5 years, apart from myself of course.......these Aussies wouldn't understand.......... they don't understand "I didn't come up the Lagan in a bubble!" or "Your head's a marley" either, and I'm still trying to convince them that "You oul eejit" is a term of endearment. Thanks for reminding me of home. See ye Alison |

Subject: RE: Love Mudcat From: Teresa Date: 03 Sep 04 - 12:46 AM Wow, thanks for refreshing this, jOhn. Best of Mudcat. :) I didn't join till a year after the start of this thread, but exchanges like this are the reason I've stayed this long, despite being a hermit at times. :) Makes me start wondering about the very first thread on mudcat ...? Subject: RE: Love Mudcat From: Georgiansilver Date: 03 Sep 04 - 03:59 AM As in any walk of life, most of the people we meet on the Cat are easy going, trustworthy, respectable, and possible candidates for becoming firm friends. There are just the odd few who make life difficult. The Mudcat heirarchy (so to speak) have a difficult job and are put under a lot of pressure because of a very small minority. The majority of Folk on here show self discipline and make it a great place to be. To the leaders...Great chatting place...thanks. Best wishes. |

Subject: RE: Love Mudcat From: Teresa Date: 03 Sep 04 - 01:06 PM Wow, and I see that folks have had a look at it fairly recently, too. Thanks, MMario. Thanks, Max. Thanks, all the rest of you 'catters, for being around and making the world still brighter. T |
Subject: RE: Love Mudcat From: Bill D Date: 03 Sep 04 - 01:46 PM Max used to have a web authoring business and hosted a site about Blues in his spare time...the Digital Tradition was added, and the forum was added soon after. Max did design the site, but had several 'elves' helping back then, and one of the cleverest, Pene Azul (Jeff), stayed on and does a lot of the more recent 'programming' while Max keeps the hardware running....together they make one hell of a team! |
Subject: RE: Love Mudcat From: Mr Red Date: 04 Sep 04 - 03:25 AM The problem posters are just part of the territory. The freedoms we love here lets in the rabble. Just like a pub session. In comes a crowd if ignoramii because there is music and they then proceed to shout over it and loudly suggest toons (they know) and give-up with "do you know anything decent". A bit like real life really. |
