I was just checking back over some of my previous postings when I noticed that they were all numbered. A quick scroll to the bottom of the page revealed that I have made 569 postings to Mudcat in just over 1 year.

Just out of curiosity I checked out 'Spaw's tally.

7609 since the day before Christmas eve in 1998! AND STILL CLIMBING!

Is this a record? Is 'Spaw the Mudcat Posting Champion?

No.....Kat is several hundred ahead and started about three weeks later. I, on the other hand, missed an entire month last year in May when I had the blown aorts and then the small bowel resection. I think Meebo may be hitting big on a "post/day" basis.

My posts would be much more inspired if I actually WAS using vital energy for Mudcat posting. Unfortunetly, all my energy is being eaten up by insane photography class and Carl the evil Communication Arts teacher. They get all my gas. You folks get the fumes. And Amos, with the torrential rains we were having here today, a Harley would have been the worst thing possible! Besides, I don't think my sister would go for riding on the back of one!

Having once gone out with a professional violinist who happened to be participating in a long concert series in which her orchestra was doing vast amounts of Telemann for some ridiculous reason, I can assure you -- having had to lovingly sit through this experience, including rehearsals -- that Telemann wrote lots of what I can only call Muzak crapola. If I never hear any Telemann ever again, I will count myself blessed. I would rather sit and listen to Mbo play the collected works of ELO on the Hohner harmonica. Truly.

Well I have a bone to pick. I got a lot of heat once upon a time for overposting, and ya know what? A whole lotta them "posts" was to type REFRESH on MUSIC THREADS when I was volunteering to help keep them MUSIC THREADS up top and prominent for NEWCOMERRS who wanted MUSIC THREADS and for oldtimers who could help in MUSIC THREADS.

And then there were the posts to encourage NEW MEMBERS to get involved and share their thoughts on MUSIC TOPICS. And when the heat began, I don't recall anyone pointing that little fact out. Whatever!

I had been working from home with a medical problem during this and it was a good deal-- entertainment and uplifting for me, people to talk to, and a little volunteer effort. And I found a voice. (And Mudcat was generally very patient as I did that.)

And then I resumed a full work schedule and lost the home computer and now I don't post nearly as much, and now people want to know (in PM's), where's PRAISE????? Why aren't you posting as much as you were? Is something WRONG?????

RANT OFF.

Come on. It was just a rant. Don't I get to do that once in a blue blue moon?

Dulci, click on your own name as it appears in your post. See where it says "From: Dulci46" and it's a blue clicky as well? Click on your name. You may have to wait a bit, but soon a page will come up with every post you've ever posted to the forum. The last one you posted will be at the top of the list and labelled "1". If you scroll to the bottom, the number by the last post on the thread tells how many you have in all.

I have been assisted lately by my reflection, which insists on attacking me for some reason, despite never having had an original thought in his life. I think he's really ticked off now, because when I went to brush my teeth a few minutes ago and looked in the mirror, he wasn't there! Absolutely nothing to be seen whatsoever, except an empty bathroom. He's bloody well walked out on me! It sure is hard to find good help these days, but I note that my shadow is still faithfully tagging along, and I dare say that my reflection will come crawling back when he has a chance to reflect upon his actions, so to speak.

Where is the graph that shows the newbie posting syndrome of posting on every thread possible until carpal tunnel syndrome sets in and forces some restraint? And the disillusionment phase when suddenly all the threads look boring and there is a drop off in posts from what had become a reasonable rate?

It would be SO FUNNY if a sociologist came to study all this!

January 8,'97 to present..2825...not a great average...but remember, the first 2 3/4 years were done on an upgraded 386 with Win 3.1 and a modem with Edison's own signature...and the whole setup driven by gerbils!(who are now quietly playing in the corner on their little wheel with few cares most of the week...we only work 'em for routine exercise once or twice a month for 30 minutes or so)

Ah heck... I just had a PM from someone who told me that the term "pussy-whipped" is far worse than I knew. Gosh, I've heard it used on the TV, albeit from crass individuals. I just never realized it actually is considered that PI. Far worse, I was informed that some people view it's use, even when teasing a fellow, as inciting abuse against women. Now, that really bothers me. Abuse is not to be tolerated, in any form.... even being pussy-whipped, which is definitely not a joke if it actually occurs.

Well, given that explanation, I must say that I will certainly consider future use of this term in a different light.
