Subject: RE: BS - Spaw , What's your favourite drink? From: Little Hawk Date: 22 Oct 00 - 10:24 PM I sympathize, Matt. Terminally screwed is right. After all, I posted "WHOOOO CARES!!!" on the "Who's gonna win the World Series" thread, didn't I? I really don't know why they jump on you the way they do. Hey, troll (my friend and pal), and the rest of you... give Matt a break...he put in the flippin' :-) acronym, and he's okay. Matt - Go and look at some more airplane models, then get on the old flight simulator, and do what I do...imagine yourself on their tail....you've got 'em cold, right in the reflector sight...rat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat!!! Subject: RE: BS - Spaw , What's your favourite drink? From: Oversoul Date: 22 Oct 00 - 10:30 PM I really enjoy a couple shots of very dark rum on the rocks with a splash of pineapple or white grapefruit juice. I buy my own drinks, covet my neighbor's wife and listen to Yma Sumac. |
Subject: RE: BS - Spaw , What's your favourite drink? From: catspaw49 Date: 22 Oct 00 - 10:32 PM Ya' want an honest answer? Really? Okay........Water. Now I assume you're talking bar drinks, but to be truthful, I love water, always have. Preferably just plain old tap water, unless you're in one of those places where there's a heavy sulphur stench and taste. I would prefer water to any beverage on the planet. Bar drinks? Well, that's kinda' sad too. I no longer drink so "my drink" is Club Soda with lime to add a little flavor. I have an occasional beer, but the bottles in my fridge have been there for months. I cook with beer occasionally as I also do wine. In wine, I have very cheap taste, especially liking some of the Catawba stuff they make up at Lake Erie. We buy a lot of the Wild Vines Blackberry Merlot which Karen likes and cooks down well. Up until about age 40, it was a different story. For a long time I drank Bacardi and Coke, triple up on the Bacardi and just splash the coke. If I was only planning on having 3 or 4, I drank Wild Turkey Manhattans. Somewhere along the line I got off the rum and onto the Jack. Pour a glassful of Jack and then show it a can of Coke.....perfect drink! In my late thirties, I was consuming about a fifth a day and burning the candle at both ends and in the middle with a Fortune 500.....something had to give. So nowadays, I have the occasional beer, something light and pleasant....LaBatt's is OK or that stuff from Wisconsin that I can never pronounce or remember...Llingenfliegelflugeldugel..whatever it is. Its not heavy and I like that. Ah but I do miss ol' Jack....he was a helluva' guy in his day. I do have a favorite soft drink. When I go down to Kentucky, I buy a case or two and then ration the hell out of it til my next trip. Its called Ale-8-One (A Late One) and is an odd ginger ale kind of thing like nothing else. Can't get it here......but its made in Ky. and I got onto it when I first went to college. Most soft drinks are pretty hideous. So......I'm cheap Hawk. Order me a glass of water and I'm happy. Now in the Tavern threads, I indulge the old Spaw. Ah the pleasures of virtuality!!! Spaw |
Subject: RE: BS - Spaw , What's your favourite drink? From: hesperis Date: 22 Oct 00 - 10:35 PM I think that **BG** works better than ;-) But that's my NSHO. Where is Spaw? My favorite drink is white grape juice. (For those of you who know of my prodigious appetite for orange juice, I consider it a close second to white grape, and more available.) |
Subject: RE: BS - Spaw , What's your favourite drink? From: hesperis Date: 22 Oct 00 - 10:42 PM Spaw - Show up while I'm writing to ask where you are, why dontcha! Water is good. Elderflower Pressé is really good, for a carbonated sugar beverage. I've gotten picky about red grape juice. Ever since tasting the Organically grown stuff, I can't go back to the normal poisonous stuff. Anyway, I have some kind of cold, so I'm off to bed now. |

Subject: RE: BS - Spaw , What's your favourite drink? From: Little Hawk Date: 22 Oct 00 - 10:56 PM Well, I'll be darned. Who'd-a-thunk it? I'm pretty much the same, Spaw, barely ever drink alcohol, although I did have some awfully good rum in Cuba...the climate seemed to suit it for some reason. Here, it does almost nothing for me, so I don't bother. Strange, eh? Maybe the hot weather is what you need with dark rum. Can't stand the light stuff at all. I never was much of a drinker. My usual choice is tea (Earl Grey, hot)..or herbal tea, or rice dream, or fruit juice. I almost never drink coffee anymore...god does it ever taste bad now! I used to love it, but not anymore. Well, gee...maybe I could buy you dinner instead. What's your liking when it comes to food? As for sex, forget it...you're on your own there, pal. |
Subject: RE: BS - Spaw , What's your favourite drink? From: Elise Date: 22 Oct 00 - 11:12 PM Well, tee totalers are us! I like Delaware Punch. Anyone ever heard of it? I haven't seen it in at least five years. I do consume alot of water. Nothing better for you. |
Subject: RE: BS - Spaw , What's your favourite drink? From: CarolC Date: 22 Oct 00 - 11:20 PM I'm with you, Spaw. Good, pure water is the best drink there is. Although I like really good spring water. I like to get it from the source myself, if possible. You can't drink the tap water around here. It comes from the Potomac River fer cryin out loud. Do you know what goes into that river? It's ghastly. Carol |

Subject: RE: BS - Spaw , What's your favourite drink? From: Thyme2dream Date: 23 Oct 00 - 01:04 AM Diet IRN-BRU for me! Irn-Bru is Scotland's other national drink, and a nice caffeine laden lil Kick of a soda! |
Subject: RE: BS - Spaw , What's your favourite drink? From: Peter Kasin Date: 23 Oct 00 - 01:38 AM I'm a water man me'self. It's partly out of necessity. I passed stones on two occasions, so now three quarts of water a day is part of my diet. It will prevent stones 90% of the time, so if you keep yourself hydrated you've got a good chance of preventing them. Believe me - you never want to get one of those. Now that's the necessity part. The taste part is that a good mineral water and lemon juice has got to be the purest, most refreshing drink on the planet. 'Spaw, if we ever meet, let's have a pint of the finest spring water and lemon we can get our hands on, deal? -chanteyranger |

Subject: RE: BS - Spaw , What's your favourite drink? From: paddymac Date: 23 Oct 00 - 02:29 AM 'Spaw- Your love has good taste. Well, at least in wine products. (:>) Wild Vines Blackberry Merlot is a pleasant change of pace, sort of in the nature of a non-carbonated spritzer. They also make a Black Cherry Cabernet Sauvignon, but I haven't gotten around to trying that one yet. |
Subject: RE: BS - Spaw , What's your favourite drink? From: catspaw49 Date: 23 Oct 00 - 06:15 AM We've tried several of the Wild Vines paddymac, and they are all pretty decent. Try the BC Cabernet, its a bit heavier but really pleasant. Karen prefers the Merlot by a hair but I agree with your "alternate" idea. very drinkable. I'm one of those "sampling" type cooks....I mean the bottle's open, right? Spaw |
Subject: RE: BS - Spaw , What's your favourite drink? From: Micca Date: 23 Oct 00 - 07:25 AM hesperis, I too like white grape juice preferably gathered in the Burgundy region of France carefully pressed, yeast added and left to ferment and then bottled and labelled appropriately... Chablis, Puligny-Montrachet, Montigny... any will do..and I am not fussy follow the same process from most areas of the world... ( except for South Farms Ontario, where I had the WORST Chardonnay I have ever tasted):0) |
Subject: RE: BS - Spaw , What's your favourite drink? From: catspaw49 Date: 23 Oct 00 - 07:47 AM Maybe that's why she likes the raw stuff Micca. I think its the moose shit that fouls up the fermentation. Spaw |

Subject: RE: BS - Spaw , What's your favourite drink? From: Troll Date: 23 Oct 00 - 08:16 AM I do miss a glass of good sherry though.***sigh*** Spaw, the way I see it is that the Good Lord gives every man a certain amount of alcohol to consume in his lifetime. By the time I was forty, I'd drunk mine and three other peoples. I couldn't find anyone else who was willing to give theirs up, so I had to quit! Water with lemon or lime juice definitly rocks-especially in Florida where it's still in the '80's. troll...who likes the ocassional non-alcoholic beer.Non-alcoholic wine is HORRIBLE! |
Subject: RE: BS - Spaw , What's your favourite drink? From: Troll Date: 23 Oct 00 - 08:19 AM re: Irn-Bru. The diet stuff is made from rust. I drink it when I'm over there but my favorite is Dandelion and Burdock. Yummy.(burp!) troll |
