The winner will be a child of privilege, spoiled by family wealth and accustomed to being catered to. The winner will be white, male and mainstream in professed religious outlook. He will represent the entrenched interests of big business, avoid the moral issues of our military and economic hegemony, and ignore the poor once the votes are counted. He will lack sincere convictions, being motivated instead by eagerness for power. The winning strategy will be to measure every comment cautiously, based on the marketing research of campaign staff, and restrict all debate so as to exclude those outside the elite and any creative approaches to our problems. Voters will be bored stiff with nitpicking banalities on the two or three issues he agrees to discuss, and he will demonstrate only a marginally different stance than his opponent on these. The winner will, in short, change very little that needs changing in this world. People will still die on battlefields, oil will be pumped and dumped like there's no tomorrow, America will continue to export DDT and tobacco to countries that cannot feed their people and then demand their multi-billion dollar debt payments. I feel sadly confident in this prediction.

The winner will be the the rich white guy from the south who supports NAFTA, the "war" on drugs and the death penalty, and whose father was a Washington insider for decades.

In other words, it ain't gonna be Nader.

Too close to call. I already voted by absentee ballot on Friday. We had dire predictions of bad weather, below zero temps, and I didn't want to deal with it on Tuesday, so I went to the courthouse Friday and quickly got the job done. The weather may still play a part in the turn out, since winter storms seem to be on the way.

I suspect it will be Bush, and not as close as has been forecast.

I hope I am wrong.

Am I the only person here who has wagered the outcome? I still think my money is safe and that Gore will be the next incumbent. I mean, seriously, I know y'all elected Reagan, but nobody makes the same mistake twice, do they?

Murray

It may be very close as most people are predicting, but I think Bush will win.

May be a tie? I hope you are right, LeeJ! I heard some predictions on the radio that it would be Bush for the popular vote and Gore by electoral college vote.

I'll be around Tuesday night for a short while, but I'll miss the festivities/mourning on Wednesday since I'm gonna' be kinda' indisposed. I'll check in whenever I can that nite or Thursday maybe.

Who will win? Too close to call.

OK - we've had lots of political discussion (maybe too much) but I wonder who is ready to go out on a limb here ... Who do you think will win the election on Tuesday? Please don't put down who you want to win. I am just curious who will be right. For me, it just it's just too close to call.

Anyone got predictions?

italics mended (you just put the "i" before the "/" when you closed them)
