the lyrics in the "Songs in Irish" webpage are from a book, Leabhar Mór na nAmhrán, and are those recorded by Pádraig Ó Maolruadh, so should be the same as those posted on this discussion by Brian in 2001.
The Heaney lyrics and translation are also shared at https://mudcat.org/thread.cfm?threadid=124864 as I mentioned here yesterday. Although the order of the lines is somewhat different, the versions are similar enought that the translation of Heaney's version gives you a good enough idea of what Ó maolruadh's version of Bean an Leanna is about.

this song was requested elsewhere on Mudcat and the query had been incorrectly answered with a different song that shares the "is fada mo chosa gan bhróga verse. I missed this discussion when I first looked for the Bean a' Leanna verses, so I have added the lyrics plus the translation from the Joe- Heaney archives to v as well.

Sorry. Should have read the small print at the bottom, which says "This song was taken from a commercial recording: Seosamh Ó hÉanaí (Gael Linn LP CÉF 028 / CEFCD 191-2), 1971; reissued 2007"

Strange, I have a copy of that LP also, but when I searched the song's title, my database didn't bring that one up.

Thanks for that Martin. Joe Heaney made two commercial recordings of Bean an Leanna, the first in 1957 for Gael Linn, and the second in 1964 for Topic.

The Topic was, I believe, reissued on Ossian and I have no idea whether it is still available. The Gael Linn, however was reissued on their excellent Seoltaí Séidte (Setting Sail)-Ceolta Éireann 1957-1961. Gael Linn CEFCD 184.

The only other commercial recording I know of comes from a Cló Iar Chonnachta PRC. Tógfaidh Me Mo Sheolta, where it is sung by Pat Phádraic Tom Ó Conghaile of Spiddal.
