Here's a better example. Perhaps you'll understand these you flaming little dork.

TWO LONG SOUNDS: Blow Me

TWO SHORT SOUNDS: Kiss my Ass

.....now that's funny!!! Please don't do that again while I'm reading at work. I just had to explain what's so funny about a 5 page piece of basic code. I'm not sure I was very convincing.....but I'm still laughing.....

I myself do not find it very funny....

Spaceman, perhaps you'd get more help on this at a phonics education-related website, rather than a folk related website.

Psudolous, you have attracted my curiosity. What is so funny about a 5 page piece of basic code?

Spaceman, you get used to 'Spaw's sense of humour after a while... hopefully someone will be able to help you out...... in the meantime maybe send Alice a personal message..... she is pretty good at anything to do with singing.......

or do a search for singing threads... there have been a few in the past......

at least I assume you're asking in relation to singing

Spaw - what the hell is the matter with you? Are you trying to get me fired???? Our biggest account is defaulting on a $250,000 debt and I am sitting here giggling!

Spaceman - so many serious questions about teaching kids to sing. Can you tell us a little about what exactly you do? Private lessons? Public School? Special Ed.? When these "odd" questions come out of the blue, Spaw can't help himself. He just types whatever comes into his head. For the record and in his defense, I managed to catch myself before typing a lot worse.

With some background, you will probably get some useful information. And a sense of humor is required around here if you are going to survive. None of the above postings are meant to be mean or demeaning, just funny.
I can give you a basic lesson in scanning dactyls and spondees for your class if it will help. And some basic rules on how to know if a sound is scanned long or short. But why do six-year-olds need this?

I'm with you Sinsull....on various threads we keep being asked how to teach some unknown type of 6 year old class. There are places to go for good teacher training. To learn how to do some of these things well, especially for a classroom situation, can take some time and money and hard work. Giving short answers in a forum like this is probably a poor way to convey this kind of information. I have found that my teaching skills have grown most by observing other teachers as they work. Hope this doesn't sound too negative, but there are some things a forum is good for, and some it ain't.

imho

Spacer, GO TO SCHOOL AND GET A MUSIC ED DEGREE!!Truly, it will answer all your questions, if they are indeed, serious. Stop teaching (if indeed you really are!) until you know how to teach, because you obiviously don't know anything about teaching or kids either one...........this crap is just getting really old.

Jon,
Nothing!! It was a choice between telling my boss about Spaw's message or try to convince her that I found humor in basic code......she wasn't convinced....!! :)

I see Frank - yet another case of me not reading what someone had written - it is a bad habit of mine.

I'm just trying to think if I have ever found basic (or other code) funny but I can't think of an example. On the other hand, I can think of several occasions where I have cursed and sworn at it (and the PC, Bill Gates and anything else I could think of). Failing to properly assign pointers used to be my favourite trick when I dabbled with Turbo Pascal - horrible things!

Sorcha,

I gave the benefit of the doubt, but, like you, I doubt this Spaceman's real. There's a lot about this that seems pretend....maybe a lonely soul looking here for talk. If he's real, then seriously, he must get some better teacher training! Kids are too precious to kid around with.

Uh Sorcha. Are we being had? Are we offering serious responses to someone who is giggling at what A-holes we are? Wouldn't be the first time. But it explains Spaw's reaction. All those AAAAAAAAAAAAAs

Yeah Sins we are as I have tried to explain before. But the stuff is starting to get pretty humorous and some good info comes into the thread about related subjects. Here's one of Spaceman's latest contributions........CLICK.......Couldn't resist that one either. I'm so weak.
