Subject: RE: Tune Req: CASTLES IN THE AIR BY DON MCLEAN From: Boab Date: 16 May 01 - 05:39 AM "Castles in the Air " has for many years been one of my favourite songs. I take it that we are referring to the same song---though I can't get the Don McLean connection---did he sing it? The one I know was written by James Ballantine 1808---77, and starts== "The bonnie bonnie bairn sits blinkin' in the a'es...." Can't find a tune on the 'net. I could put it on tape using the accordion, if a handy way of getting it to you could be arranged. Boab |
Subject: ADDPOP: CASTLES IN THE AIR BY DON MCLEAN From: Joy Bennett Date: 16 May 01 - 08:42 AM not the same one. the Don McLean song is: If she asks you why you can tell her that I told you That I'm tired of castles in the air I've got a dream I want the world to share and castle walls just lead me to despair Hills of forest green where the mountains touch the sky a dream come true I'll live there till I die I'm asking you to say my last goodbye the love we knew ain't worth another try (bridge) Save me from all the trouble and the pain I know I'm weak but I can't face that girl again tell here the reason why i must (can't?) remain perhaps she'll understand if you tell it to her plain for i will not be part of the cocktail generation partner's waltz devoid of all romance the music plays and everyone must dance I'm bowin' out i need a second chance repeat bridge and first verse end. Ok, so I can't remember one word -- I'll have to look it up in the songbook. |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: CASTLES IN THE AIR BY DON MCLEAN From: John in Brisbane Date: 16 Feb 03 - 07:50 PM Was trying to see whether a Scots song by the same name was in the DT - I have the score for the older song. I'm not sure from the above posts whether MMaio has ended up receiving the Don M version. I know that it's in a 'Songs of Peace' (edited by Pete Seeger as I recall) volume or similar name. Please PM me if this is outstanding. Regards, John |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: CASTLES IN THE AIR BY DON MCLEAN From: GUEST,Chris Chapman Date: 17 May 07 - 10:16 PM Hi Terry Try this link: http://bettylou.zzruss.com/castlesintheair.htm There's a rather poor midi that you can save (and lyrics). You may be able to revamp the midi with suitable software and make it sound better. Cheers, Chris |
