Cilla Fisher once claimed to have heard a country song called -

"There's tears in my ears, as I lie on my back, and I cry in my bed over you"

love, john.

SWLABR, from Disraeli Gears. Said to be an acronym for She Walks (Was?)Like A Bearded Rainbow. Good song, though.

Two Country Songs, one I've heard: "She left me for a middle-aged blind dwarf for the good sex" and one I have not heard but felt:"I'm so miserable without you darling it's almost like having you here."

"Love Is Better Than A Warm Trombone" and "Chicken Bones" are two good ones from Gomez. Their latest album is called Abandonded Shopping Trolley Hotline

Mansun is also notorious for strangely names songs, such as "Stripper Vicar," "The Chad Who Loved Me", and Mansun's reputedly only love song, called "Mansun's Only Love Song".

"Put Your Snout to the Spout Where the Gospel Comes Out", a homespun revival hymn my father chanced upon in his early years as a minister. Unfortunately, he didn't remember any lines or the tune, but the title has always stuck in my head!

There's also Cole Porter's infamous war-time ditty:

"I'm A Cranky Old Yank in a Clanky Old Tank on the Streets of Yokohama with my Honolulu Mamma Doing the Beat-o, Beat-o, Flat-on-my-Seat-o Hirohito Blues", recorded by Der Bingle in the early 40s.

It ain't folk (though perhaps almost as queer as), but it does qualify for bizarre...

UB Dan -- it's just a guy who can't read time. It's either 25 to 4 or 26 to 4. 25 or 6 to 4. Doesn't take a PhD.

Yeah it was doubtless the pollution from the heavy industry there that addled their brains.

Then again the whole song is a little addled (which I think is the point of the song, but I can't be sure -- I never did the drugs those guys did).

"Drop Kick Me Jesus (Through the Goalposts of Life)" is another great song title.
