Hey everyone, let's extend a big welcome to the new member of the clan. Tyler plays a mean pennywhistle and hangs out with Jeri, Bat Goddess, Curmudgeon and (sometimes) me at the Press Room in New Hampster. She also has a very nice smile.

Welcome to the Mudcat, Tyler. As I understand it, you are a Bill Sables recruit, eh? Did he tell you to check your sanity at the door?**BG**

Welcome, welcome, really. Always nice to have another one of us around.

All the best,

Wow, thanks for the welcome. Bill Slater was right, it's a great community.

Response to some of the above: Nice to know how to reach you Murray. I'd heard you and Pat had moved somewhere south- whereabouts. Been back to Scotland recently? If so, regards to Ian and ask him to send me a copy of his latest album, he must have at least one by now.

Curmudgeon's such a great name for Tom, thanks for the intro. Brett, & Jeri. Enjoy Mystic.

I didn't make it to this year's lady slipper festivities, I was down in Richmond VA where I spend alot of time, but I've been to lots of other musical gatherings at Tom and Lynn's since I moved back to the states several years ago. I'm also often tooting at the Pressrm.

I agree "penny"whistle is a misnomer but flageolet sounds so floppy/prissy/etc.

Cheers

FLAGEOLET???? Wait until Spaw gets a hold of that one! Doesn't it involve black leather and whips?

Tyler, Spaw has quite a mouth on him, he's know for spewing forth random titbits (NOT a spelling error) that shock some people. He is so bad that he recently had to undergo an oral rehabilitation to try to correct it. I don't think it will work.

By the way, his attitude is only a cover for being a sweet sensitive guy.

I'd have posted sooner but I had to be sure my flageolet wasn't flagging.......I hate it when that happens. Nothing worse than someone blowing a limp whistle.

Welcome to the 'Cat Tyler! It's a great place filled with intelligent, caring, talented, humorous, and loving folks. Sadly, I'm not one of them but I know there are some around here somewhere............Should you have any questions feel free to ask as we're always happy to help!

Gotta' go....I think my flageolet just flopped.

Spaw

I thought flageolet was a variety of beans...

Welcome

Mouldy, I believe you're right! Research shows that ingestion of flageolet beans produces a highly specialized and distinctive fart known as flageolence. It is easily recognized as a high pitched and lyrical whistling noise as opposed to the more common rips of other beans. Sometimes when eaten by large persons of Irish parentage, the flageolet bean flageolence takes on a slightly lower pitched "whooping" sound in the key of D.

Flageolet beans are highly prized by many of the more daring crepitation artists for use before contests as they are virtually unsurpassed in tunefulness. However, this is not a bean for amateurs who still have not completely mastered sphincter control. Even the greats of the sport have been known to go too far in it's usage as witnessed by the World Championship of 1987 when the great Paddy O'Pooter lost to Lord Windisphere. Paddy was ahead on points but in his zeal to completely rout the Englishman, he went for a record tempo in his rendition of "Irish Washerwoman" but with only 8 bars left to go, he shit himself.

So how have I missed this thread for the past coupla days?!? And, Tyler, you didn't say a thing about it at The Press Room last night either!

Welcome aboard (gee, should someone PIPE her aboard?!?)! Mudcat's even more comfortable to hang out at than my livingroom. (Of course, in our livingroom, Tom's cooking...)

Thanks Brian, let me know when and where and I'll try to make it. Would you believe I've never yet been to Portland? I hear there are some good music sessions and venues there.

Bat Goddess- maybe you've been too busy practicing your "comic strip writer's" gravestone slate carving techniques, gazing into your soap bubble-like orb, or stemming the flood before the Bill Sable & Co. concert in Maine to notice this thread! Anyway, I WAS asking you to decipher Mudcat monikers. More explanations needed now to see if I've correctly guessed at some of the above. Please also send info. on upcoming sea festival in Maine.

Cheers
