Subject: RE: Whitby (UK) 2001 From: Wyrd Sister Date: 15 Aug 01 - 01:33 PM Geoff, you are too kind for me. Tones of irony do not translate into print - and I hate those little punctuation squiggles unless they say "I am a one-legged man with a beard trying to watch the hair growing in my nose" I shall see you next week, but probably shall not identify myself from shame! Love and thanks |

Subject: RE: Whitby (UK) 2001 From: ken by the bay Date: 14 Aug 01 - 07:52 AM Hi saw that you are a steward on camp site two. Where is campsite two and what facilities will it have? Does it have any transport to Whitby or how far is it to walk? Hope this is enough questions to keep you going. Cheers ken by the bay |
Subject: RE: Whitby (UK) 2001 From: Ralphie Date: 13 Aug 01 - 07:54 PM Hi all. Sorry I can't be there this year. Have Fun, all of you. Love Ralphie xx |
Subject: RE: Whitby (UK) 2001 From: Mrs.Duck Date: 13 Aug 01 - 07:01 PM I found Geoff in the Tap and Spile once |
Subject: RE: Whitby (UK) 2001 From: Paul from Hull Date: 13 Aug 01 - 06:47 PM There are a couple of mentions further up the thread, Les, but ONE of the places your namesake, 'Les from Hull' will be found, & many other folk you see posting here, is the Tap & Spile (opposite the Railway Station, if you dont know it) |
Subject: RE: Whitby (UK) 2001 From: Les b (U.K.) Date: 13 Aug 01 - 05:53 PM Hi, like Paul from Hull I have not been a'catter'for long, and this is my first full week at Whitby, last year it was only for the weekend, and the only pub I know is the Elsinor, where all my friends from Southport and Merseyside hang out. Where do all the 'catters' go? |
Subject: RE: Whitby (UK) 2001 From: Paul from Hull Date: 13 Aug 01 - 05:02 PM Well, my connection has been too slow to actually ACCESS Mudcat for the past day or 3, but like both Steve & the 'Widder have said, it would be nice to see some other 'Catters WHEREVER we come across them! The 'atmosphere' on here almost reminds me of the whole 'feel' of Whitby Festival, which is great...especially for me who has only been 'Catting' for about 2 or 3 weeks.... |
Subject: RE: Whitby (UK) 2001 From: Dorrie Date: 13 Aug 01 - 03:47 PM yeah hope we are all excited! |
Subject: RE: Whitby (UK) 2001 From: brid widder Date: 13 Aug 01 - 03:04 PM I am a steward too....although I quite like the idea of being a warden!! I help Paul on the official campsite at Stakesby school the dinner ladies there do a mean cooked brekky! come and introduce yourself...just look in at the caravan, the kettle is usually on. Stewarding is a good way to do the festival..you can enjoy the fringe without feeling that your pass is wasted and feel 'part of' the official Festival as well....the easiest place to find catters is probably the Tap and Spile...ooooh only 5 days!! exciting eh? |
Subject: RE: Whitby (UK) 2001 From: Les from Hull Date: 13 Aug 01 - 02:47 PM Maggie and I went on a 'Mystery (bus) Trip' on Sunday and were shocked to find ourselves in Whitby. We thought this was one chance to actually go somewhere else. Never mind eh! Pete and Sherrie (Tap n' Spile) and John and Rose (Endeavour) are getting ready for the big crush and looking forward to meeting all their old friends (and their money!) |
Subject: RE: Whitby (UK) 2001 From: GUEST Date: 13 Aug 01 - 11:27 AM only 5 days to go |
Subject: RE: Whitby (UK) 2001 From: Steveie1 Date: 13 Aug 01 - 08:20 AM Flaj Paul From Hull is also a Warden (we were known as Stewards). Paul works on the Main Festival Campsite and I work on No.2 Campsite. Make yourself known when you arrive. The job is great for those who want to work. You get to see loads. It gets a bit hectic at times but we all muck in. See you there! |
