Subject: RE: Music in Southern Maine/NH - July 21-27? From: Barry Finn Date: 23 Jul 01 - 07:15 PM Ya, what Jeri said, FAT CHANCE. I haven't heard from Mick & same as you, I e-mailed 'em but aven't heard back yet. Barry |
Subject: RE: Music in Southern Maine/NH - July 21-27? From: Naemanson Date: 24 Jul 01 - 08:35 AM Oh please, have mercy on my poor strained throat. Ah, la belle sans merci, can you not find pity in your heart for one such as I? |
Subject: RE: Music in Southern Maine/NH - July 21-27? From: Naemanson Date: 24 Jul 01 - 03:16 PM I just got a call from bbc and Duane. They are in the area. They had a little car trouble but they are here and safe. The gathering has begun! |
Subject: RE: Music in Southern Maine/NH - July 21-27? From: Jeri Date: 24 Jul 01 - 05:25 PM And I just got a call from Big Mick. He said Fri night depends on how things go, and there's a good chance he won't be able to get here. Barry, he now has your phone number. |
Subject: RE: Music in Southern Maine/NH - July 21-27? From: Naemanson Date: 24 Jul 01 - 06:04 PM To bad about Big Mick. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, except when practising the guitar. |
Subject: RE: Music in Southern Maine/NH - July 21-27? From: Barry Finn Date: 24 Jul 01 - 09:11 PM Mick, if you see this, I work not all that far from Brockton (well, I'm a long distance driver so what do I know about time & milage) & could swing an early day, come grab you, get my wife & it's off to Portsmouth. The next day we'll be heading towards Cape Cod for our annual 100+ (I come from a long line of rabbits) family picnic, passing not to far from Brockton on the way there, so what's it gonna be, big boy?. Wuss warning, once you close the car door, it's non stop singing till the last man/woman drops & I hold a pretty mean record now with my new parts & all.
Sorry Naemanson, we take no prisoners (heh, heh), prepare to kill the throat or die. Either way we can have a good chuckle & go on to sing a lament over your loss. You can always opt for playing it safe & buy the rounds (yuck, yuck). Hey Kendall, what'd thunk bout coming? See you all, Barry

Subject: RE: Music in Southern Maine/NH - July 21-27? From: Charley Noble Date: 25 Jul 01 - 09:44 AM With friends like Barry, what's a poor apprentice shantyman to do, Brett? Maybe I'll just play some Celtic tunes on the banjo, while everyone is gargling their geritol.;-) |
Subject: RE: Music in Southern Maine/NH - July 21-27? From: Jeri Date: 25 Jul 01 - 10:08 AM Well, Roll & Go has a gig tonight. My guess is Charley won't be any kinder to Brett than the rest of us plan on being. Will report back. |
Subject: RE: Music in Southern Maine/NH - July 21-27? From: Naemanson Date: 25 Jul 01 - 03:01 PM For your information they were kind to me at rehearsal last night. However, tonight we are opening with the song I was singing when I injured myself! Ooooohh Nooooo! |
Subject: RE: Music in Southern Maine/NH - July 21-27? From: Charley Noble Date: 26 Jul 01 - 10:34 AM So it looks like another quiet evening at the Press Room this Friday...SLAM!BANG! As the doors fly off their hinges and Naemanson emerges through a cloud of sawdust and kicks the remaining splinters aside, followed by his aspiring squire laden down with 5-string banjo and concertinas! Tune in next week for the next installment of The Press Room Massacre or Shanty Shambles, brought to you by Old Spice high endurance underarm deodorant. |
Subject: RE: Music in Southern Maine/NH - July 21-27? From: Naemanson Date: 26 Jul 01 - 11:02 AM Oh ho! So you are an "aspiring squire" now are you? That's good to know. We are coming up on a weekend of performances at the Maine Arts festival and I may need a squire to carry my heavy back pack plus any purchases I might need to make while there. I will also need someone to run and fetch liquid refreshment and various foodstuffs. Ah, I will be living the life of Riley! |
Subject: RE: Music in Southern Maine/NH - July 21-27? From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 26 Jul 01 - 05:59 PM Nope- I'm not going to make it after all! I forgot about a gig I have until 5, wouldn't make it to the Press Room until nearly closing iime. I'll see some of you next week at Champlain Valley! |
Subject: RE: Music in Southern Maine/NH - July 21-27? From: Naemanson Date: 27 Jul 01 - 08:13 AM Oh Alison! And I got a message from Kendall saying he can't make it either. Barry, you need to put some real pressure on Mick to at least get him there! |
Subject: RE: Music in Southern Maine/NH - July 21-27? From: Charley Noble Date: 27 Jul 01 - 09:21 AM I didn't mean to frighten anyone...;-( |
Subject: RE: Music in Southern Maine/NH - July 21-27? From: GUEST,Tyler Date: 27 Jul 01 - 10:00 AM I see what you mean Barry about the 'catters gathering. Looking forward to meeting some of the "names -to me -only". I'm just back from Irish week in the Catskills and in sleep depravation mode anyway so finally checked out the Boston singer's session on Wed. in Paddy Burke's Pub near North Station. Is it usually as good as that Barry? 'course having Roisin White there was a treat. Recommended tonic for all visiting insomniacs (did't start 'till close to 10). See ya at the Press Rm. Advance warning- hide when I try one of my newly learned Irish songs- more enthusiasm than melody some times! Tyler
