Thanks for the help, the mazurkas, and being a really nice bloke. Wish you would reconsider and just spend less time here rather than up and leave

I am fairly worried though as I think I read that you have left the valleys and mountains of wales for the terrible flatness of Norfolk {{shudder}}
I just hope that spaw is right and you now have a real life unlike the rest of us *BG*
.......am I talkin to myself here have you already gone????

Jon,

I regret, very much, your departure, and expecially the fact that my bad temper may well have contributed to the recent nastiness which seems to have prompted it.

Your contributions have been intellegent and valuable.

I hope you'll be back, bur regardless of that I offer you my very sincere and very best wishes.

George

When the guests come of the shadows to lament the departure of one of the pillars of Mudcatville, take heart - for you know you'd done something right while you were here....

Safe journey.

Jon, I just discovered this thread, having come a little bit ago from another thread where Ed Pellow (aka Zebedee) said that he was leaving. I posted this comment to him, and thought it may also be applicable to you. I don't know. In any case, do what you feel is best for you. I will miss your incisive comments.

Don Firth

Cheers, Jon. You'll always be welcome at this table. We won't change the locks while yer gone, in case you ever do decide to wander back, even if it's just for a brief visit. If you don't ever wander back this way, then this day realize that you leave with the good will and gratitude of a whole hell of a lot of Mudcatters.

Chris

John, just think of Mudcat as a kind of cyber Coronation Street, the majority of the time it is so good you forget its a soap and then a really naff storyline comes along and you switch it off promising never to return. then the whisper goes around that Ken Barlow is having an affair with Norris from the Post Office and you have to switch on again!(Sorry non UKers for the analogy) Well the last couple of weeks, we've lost the plot a little, but good plots will come again and if we didn't have the bad tmes how would we know the good ones -and if that doesn't convince you then please don't go WHO AM I GOING TO TALK TO ABOUT THE CRICKET !!!!!!

But as you have left you be able to read this.

And I have left, I won't be able to write this either

Never say never

Never

Lend us a tenor before you go...........

I don't really want to refresh the thread and my edit button has not gone yet so I'll put it here - Thanks for the comments and thoughts. I'm sure I'll be back some time or other to ask for info/ help and will bump into a some of you here or there whenever. I won't be checking PMs or reading regularly from now - Jon. Oh and I have forgotton to give a couple of people my email address - it is jonbanjo@freeuk.com

Jon will be much missed here.  A lot of what he's done of late has been in the background and not immediately obvious, but it's been a great deal more important than a lot of people might realise.  The Mudcat will be a poorer place without him, and I, too, hope that he may in time feel like coming back.

"For it's fare thee well my own true site
Mudcat Members, fare thee well,
For I'am bound to log in as a Guest,
And your losses, can only swell.

Ch

So fare the well the Mudcat site,
When I return united we shall be,
It's not the leaving of Mudcat that grieves me,
It's the friends that I know so well.

I am bound for some quiet thinking time,
Round the back of the Happisburgh Shoal,{*)
And I'll think of Blogg of Cromer fame, {#}
And, perchance, sing the songs to his name.

I have gone to do my own thoughts,
No trolls or flamers bother me,
I can watch the bad threads from afar
Rise up and fall like a shooting star.

{*} Get a chart, or the sailing directions for the Norfolk Coast
{#} Henry Blogg - a very gallant man, see the threads on Lifeboats, RNLI, Songs about the lifeboat disaster 1886??.
