Subject: RE: FSGW Getaway-2001..Signup forms & ideas From: Marymac90 Date: 05 Oct 01 - 09:17 AM I'm planning to come (Maybe Sat. morning) and leave Sun Evening. Too bad about Bill S and Sam... Wasn't there a rumor that spaw would come? T'would be nice to have him and Barry together, so we could salute the two who made it through this year! I'm working on Mike Miller, a Philly folkie, (not a mudcatter--YET) and a Getaway-er from LOOOONG ago to make a return visit, for a day at least. I guess I'd better register--duh!!! Marymac |

It might be inspirational to the few who haven't committed to see just who they may meet at the Getaway. Roger in Baltimore |

Subject: RE: FSGW Getaway-2001..Signup forms & ideas From: annamill Date: 24 Sep 01 - 12:45 PM Jeri, paradise has a serpent, my landlady. She refuses to sign a lease and the house needs work. Honey's brother, Doug (you met him) says he will come down from Maine and do all the work needed, but I'm not putting money into the house without security that I'll be there for awhile. The new place IS a condo, but we are still on the river and we can kayak, fish, swim, etc. We still have a fireplace. The ocean is right across the street (you remember) and we have a pool!! right outside the back door. We still have plenty of crashing space. Three bedrooms and a den and a nice size livingroom. We can still do music, but not late..well, we can still do it late, if we're quiet about it. We may be able to do some music by the pool. I'll have to find out though. We can always go over to the beach and play as loud as you like!! It also get very lonely in paradise. Nobody comes to visit. It's a good move. ..and everything works! Again, anyone that would like to stop over after, or, before the Getaway is welcome. Love, annamill |

Subject: RE: FSGW Getaway-2001..Signup forms & ideas From: Charlie Baum Date: 24 Sep 01 - 12:03 PM The nearest Amtrak station to Keene, NH hides some 20-odd miles away just across a state line: Brattleboro, VT. Manchester (NH) Airport offers many cheap flights (see Southwest Airlines, for example, which goes from Manchester to BWI [Baltimore/Washington]). But either of the above would require someone to pick you up/drop you off at the nearest station/airport. --Charlie Baum |

Subject: RE: FSGW Getaway-2001..Signup forms & ideas From: Fortunato Date: 24 Sep 01 - 10:12 AM (Help I'm Lost)Please Direct Me to 1935is the name of the workshop Susette and I will be doing at the Getaway. We want to invite folks to bring songs, or tunes that were played (collected, composed, made up, etc) between 1929 and 1941. Approximately. If you have an instrument from that period, all the better. And just to add some spice we're inviting people to dress appropriately for that period. I'd like the casual passerby to think they're peering into a time capsule. I hope to see you all there! Regards, Chance Shiver.

Subject: RE: FSGW Getaway-2001..Signup forms & ideas From: annamill Date: 24 Sep 01 - 09:32 AM Micca, you are more than welcome to come and stay at our digs. Mudcat Central is about 1 1/2 hours away. We could probably get you over to Mudcat radio on Tuesday night, Sinsull is only a train ride away, unless she would like to come down to our place. I'm afraid that we will be living in a condo and no loud music is acceptable, BUT, maybe some gentle playing could be done. We do have, however, a beautiful ocean across the street from our place and long walks on the beach are wonderful. As for NH, we would have to work that out. There must be a train from New York. Set up flying back from NY, or even better Newark, New Jersey., or even better, Boston! Or maybe NH has an international airport around somewhere. In fact anyone is welcome to come and stay at our place on the way home from The Getaway. Just let me know. Love, Annamill

Subject: RE: FSGW Getaway-2001..Signup forms & ideas From: Micca Date: 21 Sep 01 - 04:06 PM But the bad news, is, I have a ticket and a Visa and a plane ticket!!!!! so I am certainly booked to come...armed with the Grail & Gail and a hip flask or 2... and I am so looking forward to meeting you all!!. I am now trying to work out a feasible travel scheme for the week after, I don't know how feasible this is but what I would like to do is leave the Getaway on Monday.. visit Mudcat Central for the Radio show on Tuesday evening.. then Wednesday travel to New York to visit Sinsull for a day or 2 then to Keene NH to visit Animaterra and back to DC on Saturday to fly home on Sunday, I do NOT drive so Public traansport is what is required, does anyone know if that itinery is possible??? any advice would be very welcome either here or by PM.. |

Subject: RE: FSGW Getaway-2001..Signup forms & ideas From: GutBucketeer Date: 22 Aug 01 - 09:06 PM Chance: I will definitely try to make it to your house or the mile. Don't know how busy I'll be yet since school activities haven't ramped up yet. We just got back from camping for a week at the Pinery in Ontario and so right now I'm full of energy and raring to go. It's amazing what a week of sleep, no computers, and laying around and playing all day will do for you! Dani: Scary songs far away from everything sounds perfect. The stars will be out and the air crisp. Can we tell scary stories too????? Rita: I'm now committed to jugband and novelty tunes. I can lead at least two songs. I'll try to round up some others to provide support too. Does Special Ed usually come? Has Dottie ever led anything? Whatever happens I'm sure we make make it a fun session. JAB

Subject: RE: FSGW Getaway-2001..Signup forms & ideas From: CarolC Date: 22 Aug 01 - 08:17 PM Bill Sables gave me a heads up about him and Sam Pirt being there this year. I'm thinking about trying to attend at least part of the Getaway.
My transportation situation is tricky. I think I might be able to get transportation to Montgomery County (Leisure World), but I don't know how I might go about getting from there to the Getaway. And I don't know if I can stay for the whole thing.
Are there any Montgomery County 'catters who will be attending all or part of the getaway who have room for one very small woman and her accordion in their vehicle? Carol |
