I haven't seen the threads in question myself--maybe they've been removed by now. But if not, please remember that we (in the US) have just had a holiday weekend, and the people that watch over the Mudcat deserve a little time off as much as anybody else.

Ways to deal with threads you have major problems with include posting a message to the elves via the "help" page, stating your disagreement on the thread, ignoring it, or posting a notice on the thread to advise all to ignore it, so it will fall off the list of the current day's threads sooner. It's bad enough we have flamers out there posting nasty stuff. We don't need people with supposedly good intentions being nasty to the elves for failing to take action soon enough!

Marymac

Oh c'mon folks, haven't we learned to ignore anonymous flamers by now?

I agree with Jeff @ work. On the one hand, Joe Offer plays God about superficial things that annoy or bother him.

But when something as serious and offensive as these two anti-Semitic threads come up, nothing but official silence.

And that is just plain wrong.

This is a little ridiculous, I'm sure Joe doesn't read every thread and the implication that he condones anti-semitism is a shortcut to thinking. Why don't you just make a mental note of what you disagree with and save it as a guide for when you start your own web-site.

My new question for Joe is, How does it feel to donate your time and talent only to be damned for your efforts? Thanks for your work and support of Mudcat!

Isn't Joe off in a canoe somewhere?

Joe,

When somebody started two different obituary threads, you were very quick to combine them into a "generic" thread. But now we have two hateful, anti-Semitic threads and you do nothing. I do not understand your standards of what is acceptable at Mudcat.

Jeff

Sorry about the slow response, Jeff. I was off in a canoe. I learned a good lesson: On Labor Day Weekend, canoeists should stay away from lakes that allow motorboats.
See my response below.
-Joe Offer-
