Subject: RE: BS: GUITAR CASES From: Clinton Hammond Date: 07 Jan 02 - 09:56 PM My single favorite sticker for my cases was the "Live Animal" stickers that came with my cat carrier... But when I got the 'twins' they came with new cases, that I have yet to adorn... Check out unamerican.com for millions of cool stickers! ;-) |

Subject: RE: BS: GUITAR CASES From: Cappuccino Date: 08 Jan 02 - 02:33 AM A music shop in Edinburgh once used to give out a wonderful sticker which read: 'play it? I can hardly carry it!'. - Ian B |
Subject: RE: BS: GUITAR CASES From: 53 Date: 08 Jan 02 - 10:51 AM love it, tell us more. BOB |
Subject: RE: BS: GUITAR CASES From: Grab Date: 08 Jan 02 - 12:02 PM "Fragile". Not that the Greek woman who loaded it onto the baggage conveyor took any notice... Graham. |
Subject: RE: BS: GUITAR CASES From: catspaw49 Date: 08 Jan 02 - 02:15 PM I saw a guy carrying his guitar into the 3rd District State Appellate courtroom.......I asked him why and he said he was taking the case to a higher court. Spaw |

Subject: RE: BS: GUITAR CASES From: wildlone Date: 08 Jan 02 - 03:40 PM I got a new photo printer the other day and one of the software packages [avery] that came with it can create stickers so I can now make my own. dave |
Subject: RE: BS: GUITAR CASES From: 53 Date: 08 Jan 02 - 03:46 PM can you make stickers that will go on gig bags as well? BOB |
Subject: RE: BS: GUITAR CASES From: wildlone Date: 08 Jan 02 - 03:53 PM Bob I hav'nt tried that yet but the sticker blanks that came with the software seem durable. it only depends on the quality of the ink you are using. dave |
Subject: RE: BS: GUITAR CASES From: Seamus Kennedy Date: 08 Jan 02 - 07:48 PM "Fragile," and "Handle with Care." Not that it ever does any good, which is why I have a Calton case. Seamus |
Subject: RE: BS: GUITAR CASES From: Tattie Bogle Date: 08 Jan 02 - 07:50 PM A couple I bought in Hong Kong " No Rickshaw Parking" and another I don't understand, but stuck on nevertheless - "No Smoking except Animal". Also "Best Drummer in the World" - likewise stickers don't stick on my bodhran case! Tattie B |
Subject: RE: BS: GUITAR CASES From: GUEST,GUEST Date: 08 Jan 02 - 08:05 PM I have a handmade and well-soiled post-it note duct taped to the side of my mandolin case...it appeared there a few years ago after an all-nighter jam at a local bar. It was from the bartender, and it said "Will Play For Beer". I couldn't agree more. Also adorning the same case are two large (6x9) stickers, one that says "I was uncool before uncool was cool", and the other, "Just because no one understands you doesn't mean you're an artist". |
Subject: RE: BS: GUITAR CASES From: Jeri Date: 08 Jan 02 - 08:24 PM I made a smart-arsed comment to *somebody around here* about getting a sticker for my Guild case that says "My other guitar's a Martin." (He's already used MY line in another thread, by the way.) Now I'm getting a Martin. Maybe I should get a sticker that says "My other guitar's a Guild." I wonder if guilt-ridden Mercedes drivers ever slap on bumper stickers saying "My other car is an '86 Chevy pick-up." |
Subject: RE: BS: GUITAR CASES From: GUEST,Avery Date: 08 Jan 02 - 08:35 PM "Unattended Children will be Sold into Slavery" (It's a joke - don't get hostile!) |
Subject: RE: BS: GUITAR CASES From: allie kiwi Date: 08 Jan 02 - 08:40 PM Mine has a post-it note taped on saying 'Put this away!' signed Mum. It never happened *grin* Allie |
Subject: RE: BS: GUITAR CASES From: 53 Date: 08 Jan 02 - 09:06 PM what;s wrong with a guild, i'd rather have a takamine, gibson, or a taylor, but if you're giving it away, i'll take it. BOB |
Subject: RE: BS: GUITAR CASES From: GUEST,sophocleese Date: 08 Jan 02 - 09:48 PM Stickers are other people's art. I painted my case. One layer of latex primer and then a sort of mandala pattern in yellow and red with small leaves drifted onto it. I can always pick it out in a crowd. my husband's banjo case looks a little like stained glass ( I chose a rose window motif for the circle); his fiddle case a little like a spaceship. |
Subject: RE: BS: GUITAR CASES From: 53 Date: 09 Jan 02 - 10:32 AM that's a good idea, but i still like stickers the best, cause they tell a story. BOB |
Subject: RE: BS: GUITAR CASES From: Midchuck Date: 09 Jan 02 - 10:58 AM My favorite sticker is a slogan that my wife came up with, and one of our friends had a bunch made up and distributed them all over the State, and they became very popular... MOONLIGHT IN VERMONT. OR STARVE. Peter. |
Subject: RE: BS: GUITAR CASES From: 53 Date: 09 Jan 02 - 09:58 PM spaw what sticker do you have on your case or cases? BOB |
Subject: RE: BS: GUITAR CASES From: Mudlark Date: 09 Jan 02 - 10:11 PM My Martin case is chaste and unadorned. My classical guitar case is exceedingly stout but having been with me for over 40 years it looks hard-used...successions of puppies have stripped the black layer off in several places (I keep thinking one of these days I need to ducktape it). And when the handle packed it in, I replaced it with the collar of a beloved bassett hound. When I took this guitar in to be appraised I realized I'd have almost as much trouble parting with that old collar as I would the guitar....almost. |
Subject: RE: BS: GUITAR CASES From: 53 Date: 09 Jan 02 - 10:15 PM i have one of my cases held together with duck tape and staples, but it is part of me and i'll patch it anyway i can. BOB |
Subject: RE: BS: GUITAR CASES From: Steve in Idaho Date: 09 Jan 02 - 11:57 PM My guitar case was built from the Red Green Show motto of Duct Tape can fix anything motto. Only thing is I used stickers instead of duct tape. Literally covered with them. Everything from NASCAR to The Marines. And I'd love an "Unattended Children Will Be Sold Into Slavery" sticker. Only thing better would be one that says, "End child abuse by spaying and neutering everyone." Steve |
Subject: RE: BS: GUITAR CASES From: Kaleea Date: 10 Jan 02 - 12:07 AM I never cared for having stickers on my own guitar case, and now that I am such a geezer with back troubles, I have a lightweight nylon gigbag & it's all I can do to remember the darn thing, much less figure out what sticker I'd put on if I'd put one one, and then there's the dilemma of how this arthritic elderly geezer would have the strength to pick up the sticker & push it onto the nylon which would invariably not stick. Fortunately, I am so old, that tomorrow I will probably not remember that I thought about it today. |
Subject: RE: BS: GUITAR CASES From: Clinton Hammond Date: 10 Jan 02 - 01:56 PM So I dug out my collection of stickers and such, in contemplation of adorning the cases of The Twins... I have quite a collection... 2 more "Live Animal" stickers... Some Industrial warnings like, "High Voltage" and "Contains Asbestos"... My "Radiation" warnings... "CAA" stickers... "GLASS Handle with care".. Just to name a few... But ya know... I just can't do it... I've really come to like a clean case... ;-) |
Subject: RE: BS: GUITAR CASES From: 53 Date: 10 Jan 02 - 03:31 PM clinton, what are the names of the twins? BOB |
Subject: RE: BS: GUITAR CASES From: Clinton Hammond Date: 10 Jan 02 - 03:51 PM Dadgad and standard! LOL!!!!!!! |
Subject: RE: BS: GUITAR CASES From: 53 Date: 10 Jan 02 - 03:53 PM please explain, for i must be slow. BOB |
Subject: RE: BS: GUITAR CASES From: Clinton Hammond Date: 10 Jan 02 - 04:13 PM Sorry... I carry 2 guitars to gigs... both are A Series Seagull 'Folk' models... the only difference between them is that one is in standard guitar tuning, and the other is in DADGAD tuning... More info can be found on my gear page @ swordforhire.org ;-) |
Subject: RE: BS: GUITAR CASES From: 53 Date: 27 Apr 02 - 10:34 PM I just found some picks that I had stuck away in one of my cases and they date back to 1969, man what a find. Bob |
Subject: RE: BS: GUITAR CASES From: Mooh Date: 28 Apr 02 - 06:40 AM Back in the day (I hate that expression) many of us had on our cases the stickers which came from the Pink Floyd album, Dark Side Of The Moon. I remember having them on an old case back in history somewhere, and I'm sure I've got another two somewhere. I saw a fiddle player's case one time with great warning stickers which could only have come from a nuclear facility. For you Ontario residents, you might (or might not) appreciate my anti Mike Harris, and Union Goon stickers on one of my cases. Protest song, protest case. Peace, Mooh. |
Subject: RE: BS: GUITAR CASES From: 53 Date: 30 Apr 02 - 09:46 PM Find anything interesting inside your case besides your guitar? |
Subject: RE: BS: GUITAR CASES From: 53 Date: 15 Oct 02 - 02:31 PM refresh |
Subject: RE: BS: GUITAR CASES From: Fortunato Date: 15 Oct 02 - 02:36 PM Hey, 53, howyadoin'? I've not put anything on recent guitar cases except key ring sorts of things. Like a whistle. On the inside I have dried cherry blossoms. You see each spring we play outside, sometime just my bride and I and sometimes a picking party, and when the cherry blossoms fall in the open case...well, I just leave them in there. take care, Chance |
Subject: RE: BS: GUITAR CASES From: Leadfingers Date: 15 Oct 02 - 02:47 PM I have 'Not to be used with electrical apparatus' and 'It is an offence for passngers to travel in this vehicle',not to mention stickers for bars I've worked in and people Ive worked with. |
Subject: RE: BS: GUITAR CASES From: Mooh Date: 15 Oct 02 - 03:15 PM Hey Bob, where ya been? Lots of stickers don't last long, or lots of cases don't like them. There should be ones to discourage theft... I see alot of kid's cases with the latest one-hit-wonder-stickers, and usually by the time I've heard them they're old news. Peace, Mooh. |
Subject: RE: BS: GUITAR CASES From: Kim C Date: 15 Oct 02 - 03:32 PM I don't have anything on my guitar or my fiddle case... however, I did buy a little sticker that says Warning: Protected by Bad Ass Violinist. I haven't stuck it on anything yet, though. I really want the bumper sticker that says "Towanda!" (y'all who have seen Fried Green Tomatoes know what I mean) |
Subject: RE: BS: GUITAR CASES From: Clinton Hammond Date: 15 Oct 02 - 03:37 PM Oh ya... my flute case has a sticker on it that I got from a movie theatre a bunch of years ago... The standard "Adult Accompaniment required under the age of 14" sticker they put on movie posters... Keeps kids away... |
Subject: RE: BS: GUITAR CASES From: Sibelius Date: 15 Oct 02 - 03:57 PM Mooh, your 'nuclear facility warning' reminded me of why I gave up putting stickers on my guitar case. Hitch-hiking down the M6, I was picked up by a guy in a small van who said "throw your guitar over into the back.... oh Christ, Greenpeace?? That's all we bloody need." He was an engineer working at Sellafield. |
