Subject: Newbie Intro, And Then Some... From: saulgoldie Date: 27 Jan 02 - 07:26 AM It is good to be here. In stark contrast to my fountain pen boards and lists, this is a place about social interactive doing, rather than solitary sulking. (Not that there isn't a time for that, but...) First off, I have yet to be able to figure out how to contact anyone backchannel. Not everything I would say is board-worthy, but I would like to share with some of those who have posted. I also find that I can make some deeper friendships this way. I have found many very interesting threads, and "met" many very interesting and thoughtful people. Indeed, I would expect nothing less from the Folkie world. So, I will contirbute as I have anything I feel is worthy. In the mean time, I would appreciate it if someone would tell me how to get in touch off-list. Thanks. Saul saulgoldie@hotmail.com |
Subject: RE: Newbie Intro, And Then Some... From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 27 Jan 02 - 07:28 AM Welcome, Saul! Have you checked out the "Mudcat FAQ- Newcomer's Guide", which is a "permathread" at the very top of the thread list? There you should find info on sending Personal Messages (called "PM's") to other members. And a whole lotta other good info, too. |

Subject: RE: Newbie Intro, And Then Some... From: saulgoldie Date: 27 Jan 02 - 12:13 PM AwwwwRIGHT! The *hat trick*!!! I made "the clique." And on my first active day! I am now going to go outside and enjoy a rare 60o January day. I think I might even bring my Guild J-30 and serenade the neighborhood (whether they like it or not!) with some rough rehearsing. Thanks to all for the lovely welcome. I will be actually *contributing* as opposed to just *taking,* as I have been here. But right now I must enjoy some deep gulps of fresh air as Nature has seen fit to give me this great gift. Be back later when it's hot buttered rum time. Tchau! Saul |

Subject: RE: Newbie Intro, And Then Some... From: Alice Date: 27 Jan 02 - 12:41 PM Sixty degree weather? Man, I could use some of that here - big snow storm last night. Session tonight, we'll see how many make it through the snowy streets. Alice |

Glad to have you here. A. |
Subject: RE: Newbie Intro, And Then Some... From: SharonA Date: 28 Jan 02 - 12:11 PM Saul: Welcome from suburban Philadelphia, PA where the temperature is supposed to peak in the upper 60-degree range today, then plummet tonight. Where do you hail from? What are your musical interests? Do you play other instruments besides the J-30? Tell us all! SharonA |
Subject: RE: Newbie Intro, And Then Some... From: Genie Date: 28 Jan 02 - 09:27 PM Welcome, Saul, from soggy Portland, Oregon, where 60º is not all that terribly unusual in January (though it's gonna be in the teens tonight). You seem to be making great progess in advancing to the inner circle, probably partly because you posted a thread like this. I wish I'd thought of something like that when I came on board last summer. Now I have to find out what the heck a FAQ is! Glad to have you with us! Genie §:-) |

Subject: RE: Newbie Intro, And Then Some... From: Jerry Rasmussen Date: 29 Jan 02 - 10:21 AM Hi, Saul:
I posted a PM message in response to yours. I hardly qualify as an old timer. I'm one of them danged "newbies." Funny to be a newbie at 66. Quite flattering, actually. You'll enjoy Mudcat if you ignore the occasional posts that seem to have no deeper desire than to get in everyone's face. These are good folks, here. |
Subject: RE: Newbie Intro, And Then Some... From: Steve in Idaho Date: 29 Jan 02 - 10:59 AM Welcome to the last bastion of true free speech in the known world!! A Guild huh. Nice instrument - and the neighbors will most likely be out applauding you in their hearts!! Steve |
