After much toing and froing in the UK "Friends of the Mudcat" now has Non-Profit Status, and more importantly a UK bank account.

Micca, John Routlage and myself are trustees and signatories to that account.

Rather than give full details over a public forum ( I have recieved 3 'Nigerian Fraud' E-Mails over the last month) UK Catters who wish to contribute by standing order, or one off donations are invited to PM Micca, John or myself with your E Mail or Snail Mail address to recieve the detail, standing order form etc. And full details, if required of "Friends of the Mudcat".

At the moment the bank balence stands at £120.00

My E-Mail address = garethwilliams@gareth72.fsnet.co.uk

I am E-Mailing direct those catters who have indicated that they wish to support the Cat.

I an sorry that it has taken longer than we would like, or anticipated, to set this up.

Gareth and Micca.

NB SO forms are available as Word Doc or PDF form.

Well done. Now to get the standing orders set up.

And though it says "in UK", the account is available for covers Ireland too, since the banking systems are linked, so Irish Catters can set up standing orders and so forth as well.

This is a really good idea. Good on you Gareth. Has anyone had any bright ideas for us Europeans? This is a good idea for the UK, but we still waste a lot of money in the bank transfer fees to get money to either the UK or the USA - effectively wiping out the effect of small donations from here.

Quite a few enquiries, in the last 24 hours - Tho it does occour to me that many UK 'Catters will be away from thier PC's enjoying the public Holiday to celebrate Her Majesty's Coranation in 1952.

I have been asked why I have not posted full details of the bank account on the Mudcat.

Well in the last month I've received 3 "Nigerian Fraud" E Mails and I do not think it would be clever to post bank details - Those wishing to contribute may do so, by E Mailing myself, or PM ing me, Micca, or John Routledge.

I've have E Mailed most of those I known suggested that they were happy to contribute, if I've missed you sorry, please PM or E Mail me. ( Despite a certain Catter bouncing the E-Mail as "suspected Spam")

My E Mail = garethwilliams@gareth72.fsnet.co.uk

Oh, and in case your wondering - yes full transparancy and AUDIT rules apply. What comes in is verifyable, what goes out is checkable.

Gareth for "The Friends of Mudcat"

It'd be useful to have the Constitution of the Friends of the Mudcat (or whatever its called) posted again, and stuck somewhere with a permanent link from the Mudcat.

What would a typical and reasonable Mudcatter contribute please?

"a typical and reasonable Mudcatter" - I'm trying to imagine what a £typical, and reasonable Mudcatter" might be like. I've a feeling maybe there's an oxymoron trying to surface there.

(Well, a pint of beer is around the £2 mark, so take it from there.)

I set up a MSN Community for the UK Friends of Mudcat after the Stony Stratford meeting with a tidied up version of the Constitution and Minutes posted together with a few photographs, but it received so little interest that MSN seem to have canned it.

Is it worth reviving it?

Alan

Yes Alan, it is worth reviving, in our efforts to be "transparent"( a quality I have never possessed, or been suspected of, before, being all too "solid")are to be "seen to be done", I am Now back " Chez Micca" and am also contactable again.

Alanabit, asking for ideas for continentals to get involved. Sounds like a perfect excuse for a party! Get all the Euro-cats together once a year. Either at a festival in England, or.... meet in France, party, collect money, then send a delegation roaring through the Chunnel to 'make the drop'.

To be fair Euro Catters have contributed by means of used £5 pound notes, Gareth

Have just got back into gear after a varied musical time away.

Many thanks are indeed due to Gareth for getting this off the ground. It may seem easy but isn't.

Here's hoping for a great response.
