I really enjoyed Cleckheaton festival, and seeing so many (old!!) faces I've not seen for some time! it was lovely hearing the Shellbacks again - look forward to seeing you in Uppermill. (

If any of you have a free weekend in 2 weeks (July 19-21) it's Saddleworth Folk Festival. We're still novices as it's only our 5th Festival, but not virgins, as our SAFRA Alien was deflowered on the campsite at Upton 2 years ago!

We've got a decent guest list, with Tanglefoot, Ola and the Bushbury's (amongst many others), brill singarounds, real ale served by Moor and Coast, a good campsite....and we're very children and young people friendly. Oh, and we've been told that we're a really nice crowd on the hills there. it would be great to see some of you there.

Alas, we will not be at Saddleworth as it clashes with Festival at the Edge. I've heard it's a great little festival but we've been going to the Edge now for 9 years - and I like telling stories round a bonfire late at night ;-)))

Hi Ducks! Yes, day tickets available. Tanglefoot are just in Uppermill on the Saturday (Meet the Artist 1.30 - 3.00 and in the main concert in the evening with Giff, Stanley, Mundy-Turner). The full day ticket is £15 (free for children up to 10), or £12 for the evening, which is from 6.00 p.m.. The concert ticket is £9. (Aren't you impressed with all that info. off the top of my head in work on a Monday morning?) Oh God, please let the weather stay nice till after next weekend!! Ali

If you miss Tanglefoot at Saddleworth or you want more, they are at The Bothy Folk Club, Southport on the Sunday night (21st). The clubs last night till Sept and the bands last U.K. date. Phone Clive Pownceby on 0151-924-5076 for ticket info.

Singarounds folks! - Friday evening in Conservative Club upstairs (so you don't need to look at a certain person's photo!!) run by my Geoff; Saturday lunchtime same place run by Maureen and Joe' Friday teatime Waggon Inn run by Geoff Turner. Sunday sessions are themed singarounds e.g. Sunday Sing with Mundy-Turner and Firm Friends, and the Maritime Set with 3 Sheets and the Geoff's. Apart from these, which are all on the programme, the Waggon and Granby are both "folk-friendly" venues, and would love anyione to start singarounds etc.up. Thanks for all your lovely comments - wherever you are this weekend, have a brill "folkie" time...and may the sun shine down on us!! Ali

You won't miss the Waggon, Ray...it is on the second pub on the right as you come into the village from the west. Parking very convenient in the Museum carpark on the left. The Railway Pub up the road in Greenfield is also hosting a weekend of music stuff. see y'all there!

Well last night's concert was great Copper Kettle, John Parsons, Th' Antique Roadshow, 3 Sheets to the Wind, hosted by Stanley Accrington and superbly finsihed off by The Oldham Tinkers. Tonight Tanglefoot top the bill and tomorrow The Bushburys with lots of ther things happening along the way. I'm just on my way back there

Even more..............Tanglefoot were brilliant, really on form. I thought they didn't quite gel at Cleckheaton, they made up for it last night, over an hour twenty on stage too boot.

If anyone is at a loose end today Saddleworth is still going strong with the main concert at the Civic Hall 12.30- 4 ish lots of other events through the day then tonight a survivors session at the Cross Keys. Yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Well, couldn't stop for long (Poor old Mrs G has a chest infection and is feeling awful - on her birthday as well :-( ) but what I did see looked great. Good to see so many friends there. Can't get there at all today but Spot may pop up for a while. Good luck and thanks to all.

Only just come back into work after a week off .... to recuperate! Thanks for all your lovely messages - it was great to see you all there. Everyone's told me that it was the best ever, so I guess that means that we're going to have to work hard on next years' now....not that I'm doing it of course!!!! The highlights for me were the War of the Roses concert (just hilarious!), and the Sunday Sing (the song with Mundy/Turner, Tanglefoot and Firm Friends had me crying my eyes out! Hope Stainsby went well Jim? See you all in Whitby if not before! Ali
