"Songs of the Civil War" is great - it isn't the same as the soundtrack from the series, which is pretty good as well. Aw heck, get 'em both! We just bought both of the Songcatcher CDs. Neither is really a soundtrack, although the first one does have some of the movie music on it. The second one has a lot of early recordings, from the 30s & such. There were a lot of differing opinions here about the movie, but both CDs are worth having. |

Subject: RE: BS: What TV shows and movies have the best m From: GUEST,Bill Kennedy Date: 20 Aug 02 - 04:06 PM a great movie soundtrack of all time was/is 'Pretty Baby' by Louis Malle, real, down home, New Orleans Jazz and ragtime music, that fits the mood and action. the use of Leonard Cohen's songs in 'McCabe & Mrs. Miller' 'One From the Heart' Tom Waits & Crystal Gayle Tom Waits' 'Black Rider' is a stage musical recording that holds together from beginning to end, some unforgettable music 'Deliverance' 'The Songs of the Civil War' released in conjunction with the Ken Burns documentary is marvelous - McGarrigle Family, Hoyt Axton, Waylon Jennings, Richie Havens, etc.

Gladiator That version of Robin Hood that the BBC did, with Clanad doing the soundtrack has some pretty cool moments... I quite like the soundtrack for the Bakshi version of Lord Of The Rings... just wish I could find it anywhere...
Wrath Of Kahn has a killer soundtrack... Just a few off the top of my head... ;-)
