Here's some new lyrics I wrote for that tune, twenty years ago or so:

I went to town just the other day
I met an old friend, along the way,
She asked could I come over tonight,
I said, my wife is busy, but it'd be all right,

Well, that'll never happen no more,
That'll never happen no more.

Got over there about a quarter to eight,
She was dressed for bed, I said I hope I'm not late,
She said, no sir, man, you're right on time,
Take your shoes off and open that wine,
But that'll never....

I said I'd never really done this before,
She said, when we're done, we'll do it some more,
My head was spinning it was starting to ring,
When the doorbell did, the same darn thing,
Well, that'll never...

There stood my wife, looking angry and mean,
She called my old friend, something obscene,
Grabbed me by the nose, and away we did go,
No shoes on my feet, I stubbed my big toe,
Well, that'll never....

We talked it over and things were okay,
She did forgive me; things were going my way,
I stubbed my other toe, getting into bed,
But it felt much better, cause here's what I said,
That'll never happen no more,
That’ll never happen no more.
