Halló all, I saw last night a show ( 9/11 )taken by two france men( brothers ) who where tapen a film about new firefighter in N.Y city. They went to the world trade center after the attack, and i have to say that me and my family we where just sitting there and we did not say a word over the hole time . I am a former firefighter and EMT man and I thought back to my sad Emcalls that I went to and I have to say when I think about what those men went through In N.Y city mine where very small although they where bad. There came a tear from my eyes, those men are and will be HERO´S .Here In Iceland we may not understand this advence but we got a chance to see the advence as it happend, and after the show we maybe can think to understand. I hope that we will not see this kind a advence in the future and we can all live In Peace. May god bless all the men and women and children who died and their love one´s. It was a very moving film,skarpi. All the more powerful because there was no hype or hysteria--just a group of men trying to do a job--and what a job on such a dreadful day.

Skarpi,
It was a very powerful film mostly because they presented the raw facts without resorting to graphic crowd pleasers and hype. I pray often for the people who were at ground zero and survived. They saw and heard things no man was ever meant to experience. I have family and friends who were there. As with soldiers in battle or anyone caught in a disaster, they were changed that day. Some are burying their memories in drugs, alcohol, and anger.

We also saw it for the first time here in Australia on Wednesday. Those scenes filmed in the foyer of the building were the most chilling I have ever seen.

The looks of horror and desperation on the faces of those weary men said more about how we all felt than could be put into words. It's as if we were ALL witness to the atrocity, having watched it live, in real time, on T.V. and seeing those guys brought back the stupifying shock that left everyone I know speechless.
We've had our share of terrorist acts here in the U.K. but nothing can prepare you for watching thousands of people dying before your eyes.
I went to see my football(soccer) team play on Tuesday. We were playing our nearby rivals (Sunderland) and it's always a fiery and often hostile affair between the two sets of opposing fans. Just before "kick-off" it was announced that a minutes silence would be asked for in memory of those that lost their lives on Sept 11th.
There's always a group of brainless idiots who like to seize these moments by shouting obscenities to their rivals but as the match official blew his whistle, to signify the start of the observance, the crowd of over thirty thousand stood in absolute silence for what seemed an age.
Words can't say what we're feeling a year on but the silence did on Tuesday night.

The first time those films were shown they made a point to tell us that there were a lot of scenes that were edited out because they were too gruesome. As horrible as those tapes were I give them credit for not showing all of them to us.

I know no-one who was not moved by the events last year.
Watching the film on TV last night gave me a real incite to the horrors that happened and what the brave survivors have gone through.
May God help them to live with what they have been through.
No one will ever forget.
God bless them and all the people who lost family and friends.
Let the love sent to them from all over the world help them a little.

Well... I saw the film and I saw the 11th in New York, the film really brought back the day,... too well, didn't sleep ... however, saw Seven Days in September today, not a great film, actually - but very evocative of the days after, the week after was actualy very cathartic, even as the hope of finding survivors faded, the quite of living in the "frozen zone", the sidewalk debates and hugs, well, I saw a few moments I witnessed, actualy saw them filming... and I think I'll be sleeping tonight.

As usual McGrath is right. If we allow a few lunatics to declare war on Iraq we shall simply prove that we have learned nothing from the whole, horrible disaster. Nobody anywhere deserves to suffer this.

September 11, 2002 brought home just how precious our freedom is.

Well said, Skarpi. It's pretty amazing to me that those brothers just happened to be filming their documentary at that particular time and place, but more amazing that they both had the presence of mind to keep their video cameras rolling throughout that horrible tragedy. More amazing, still, that one of the brothers happened to be in the street as the fire company was on the scene of a gas leak – a pretty routine call – and raised his camera to the WTC in time to capture the sight of the first jet that crashed (into the North Tower). His is the only video record we have of that first attack.

Also, thanks to Kiki for the info about the US Revolutionary War's Battle of Brandywine in 1777. Brandywine Battlefield State Park is located on Route 1 at the east end of Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania.
