Subject: Anyone know Hazel Absolom? From: Abuwood Date: 18 Sep 02 - 12:51 PM This woman has changed my life...I need to tell her, can anyone put me in contact please? |
Subject: RE: Help: Anyone know Hazel Absolom? From: greg stephens Date: 18 Sep 02 - 04:12 PM do you mean the medieval dance person of that name? |
Subject: RE: Help: Anyone know Hazel Absolom? From: Liz the Squeak Date: 18 Sep 02 - 05:10 PM The person who acts as contact for Steel Bunny/Capriole should be able to help you, but at present I am bereft of tape so cannot give you contact details... try anyone who's ever booked them for a concert. Enquiring minds need to know - how did she effect this transformation, and of what nature is it? LTS |
Subject: RE: Help: Anyone know Hazel Absolom? From: greg stephens Date: 18 Sep 02 - 05:55 PM Yes. Has it made you wear a long dress and conical hat? |
Subject: RE: Help: Anyone know Hazel Absolom? From: Liz the Squeak Date: 19 Sep 02 - 02:46 AM The conical hat was only popular in France for a few years, but it has become the visual symbol for anything mediaeval.... it is more popular now than when it was first worn! It's an extension of the 'flower pot' type seen in Britain during that same period (late mediaeval - 1300's). I prefer the earlier end, 1100's, where the headdresses were basically large squares of linen wrapped around the head in whatever manner you liked that would stay on and keep your head covered. As for the dress, it's the only dress I ever wear now, but somehow I don't think the Inland Revenue is ready for that, so I will continue to wear my trousers. Strange this effect that Hazel has on people's lives.... Any joy in contacting her yet? LTS

Subject: RE: Help: Anyone know Hazel Absolom? From: greg stephens Date: 19 Sep 02 - 05:03 AM I think personal messages are better for information like that. I know people often put their own info on their own sites, but I'm not sure about third parties passing it on in open forums. Maybe I'm being over cautious? I don't know. |
Subject: RE: Help: Anyone know Hazel Absolom? From: smallpiper Date: 19 Sep 02 - 05:08 AM I'm with you Greg I would be appauled if someone put my details out on an open forum. |
Subject: RE: Help: Anyone know Hazel Absolom? From: Murray MacLeod Date: 19 Sep 02 - 05:10 AM I appreciate your point Greg, but I would take the view that in this case, yes you are perhaps being over cautious. Ms Absalon's information is freely available all over the Net, and no doubt in her local phone book as well, so I doubt she has any problems with it being posted here. Murray |
Subject: RE: Help: Anyone know Hazel Absolom? From: greg stephens Date: 19 Sep 02 - 05:51 AM I disagree. I've just had a think about this, I dont want to be paranoid or security mad. I justthought about it in relation to myself. My telephone number, and quite possibly my address,is findable by anyone without much ingenuity. All the same, if someone posted a message to this or any other forum saying "How can I find Greg Stephens" I really wouldnt be best pleased if someone put my address and phone number on an open thread. I would say offering ablue clickie to someone's website is OK, their address and phone number is a step too far. Thismay seem completely illogical, if their phone number is available on their website, but that's how I personally feel. |
Subject: RE: Help: Anyone know Hazel Absolom? From: Murray MacLeod Date: 19 Sep 02 - 06:24 AM Well, we will just have to agree to disagree on this one Greg. It wouldn't worry me in the slightest if anybody posted my address and phone number on an "open" thread. (or a "closed" thread either for that matter ). I have nothing to hide and have no fear of anybody. And just to put my money where my mouth is, this is where all serial murderers, stalkers, rapists and housebreakers can find me.

Subject: RE: Help: Anyone know Hazel Absolom? From: greg stephens Date: 19 Sep 02 - 06:36 AM That's your decision, about yourself, Murray. Here's mine 01782871691. That's my decision, about me But I wouldnt want you to publish other people's. It may be totally fine in an individual case, but I think to avoid people making complicated decisions every time, it's better to have a general guideline "dont put addresses, email addresses or phone numbers of third parties on open threads". |

Subject: RE: Help: Anyone know Hazel Absolom? From: smallpiper Date: 19 Sep 02 - 07:13 AM Greg has a major point and in addition I think that more caution must be taken when publishing Females' address telephone number etc. There are just too many nutters out there. If she wants to do it then thats her lookout. |
Subject: RE: Help: Anyone know Hazel Absolom? From: Murray MacLeod Date: 19 Sep 02 - 07:38 AM Greg, I do take your point and if you just PM me your credit Card No, expiry date and mother's maiden name, we will consider the matter closed. Subject: RE: Help: Anyone know Hazel Absolom? From: Abuwood Date: 19 Sep 02 - 12:47 PM Thanks so much Murray, especially as you have taken so much stick for helping me! It never ceases to amaze me how a number for someone in Kent can come from some one as far out as Pitlochry, is it just the Mudcat that keeps you in touch with the world up in those beautiful mountains? |
