DigiTrad:
I WAS BORN ABOUT 10,000 YEARS AGO (And That's No Lie)
I'M THE MAN THAT RODE THE MULE 'ROUND THE WORLD
JUST THE FACTS, MA'AM

Subject: does anyone know anything about a song
From: DDavis2@ix.netcom.com

Does anyone know anything about a song that says

“I was born about 4000 years ago
Oh there's nothing in this world I do not know"...

Another stanza is

Queen Elizabeth fell death in love with me.
We were married in Milwaukee secretly.
Oh, I took her and I shook her
And I went with General Hooker
To fight the mosquitoes down in Tennessee.

I believe it is a very old Tennessee folk song

I appreciate any assistance

Thanks
Stacey

The database isn't working right now, so I sent Stacey the lyrics by e-mail - there are two variations of "Passing Through" in the database (search under passthru). I notice there's no tune - anybody want to post one?

if you are new, you need to learn about the search facilites...that particular song can be found by going to the upper right corner of this page and entering some part of the lyrics...it is NOT listed by that title!..I believe it is listed as "Just the facts, ma'm"...a 2 part union with another song.

try entering [nothing in this world] WITH the brackets to indicate you want the entire phrase exactly.(p.s., having Tennessee in a verse is just a coincidence...the song is known everywhere)

If you have RealAudio installed on your browser, click here to go to www.tunes.com for samples from Cisco Houston's recordings of "Passing Through" and "Great Historical Bum" (listed as 100,000 Years Ago).

Oscar Brand also sang this song.
