Subject: R.I.P. My Old Bouzouki. From: mandomad Date: 30 Sep 02 - 06:17 PM Well, it's finally come to this! I've got to dispose(I find it hard to even type that word)of my revered old bouzouki. It served me well through many a hundred gigs. It's totally shagged out, not even pretty any more, can't even show it offt on the wall. But I loved the old bugger to bits. I didn't even pay for it. Got it as a present from a fan who brought it back from Greece. I can't tell you how sad this makes me. I think I'll have to throw it out with the trash. Really it ought to have a requiem mass said for it. I NEVER chuck instruments out, but it's got to go. GOODBYE OLD THING!!! |
Subject: RE: OBIT: R.I.P. My Old Bouzouki. From: Malcolm Douglas Date: 30 Sep 02 - 07:42 PM The neck of my bouzouki folded up more than 20 years ago, but I still have the body hanging on the wall. In spite of being cheap crap (made in Greece with dubious wood) it sounded quite nice. One day I'll make it a new neck; or, if I don't get round to it, it'll stay on the wall and puzzle visitors. Don't discard your old friend! |

Subject: RE: OBIT: R.I.P. My Old Bouzouki. From: Áine Date: 30 Sep 02 - 07:54 PM C'mon now, mandomad -- it can't be that hard to look at . . . maybe you can still put it on the wall -- covering up the really bad spots with some fake ivy or something -- don't say requiat in pace to your ol' friend just yet, please. -- Áine |
Subject: RE: OBIT: R.I.P. My Old Bouzouki. From: katlaughing Date: 01 Oct 02 - 12:35 AM Ouch! A decent burial or funeral pyre at least, eh? Something less ignoble than the trash heap? Though, I vote for doing something else with it altogether, as well, wall-hanging, take it apart and use the bits for something creative? kat |

Subject: RE: OBIT: R.I.P. My Old Bouzouki. From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 01 Oct 02 - 03:16 PM Cremate it and save the ashes. Buy something suitable for a bouzouki funerary urn from a local potter. (I've made 'em for cats so why not a zouk?) Heaven knows we potters need the money. Bruce |
Subject: RE: OBIT: R.I.P. My Old Bouzouki. From: mandomad Date: 11 Nov 02 - 03:46 PM Well, I couldn't do it!!! It is still among the rest of the clutter at the cellar head. I know it's gotta go, I just can't get up the courage to chuck it. Incidentally, the walls and shelves are full to bursting with other (much prettier) instruments. mandomad |
