Surprisingly, it's been cool (mostly in the 50s and 60s F) and cloudy since we arrived here in Georgia on Tuesday. We saw a Coyote standing by the side of the highway somewhere in the northern part of Georgia. That was pretty cool.

In a word, wet and dark. I'm in San Antonio, Texas, USA and the weather has been unusually rainy all year with serious flooding in July. Weather's so crummy here the South Texas Celtic Festival in Corpus Christi that lots of us were scheduled to play had to be called off this weekend.

Fingerbuster, I don't know exactly what you meant by a hot country, but a light up the fireplace, put on every piece of down-filled clothing you can find and stock up on food & drink because it may be too cold to leave the house kind of day here is about 40 degrees. We do seem to get a 20-something degree overnight temp at least once a year, though.

It's raining here in Tokyo (still!) and the temp is in the 50's but the wind off Tokyo Bay cuts like a rusty knife. It tears its way through your clothing . I live a few hundred meters from the seawall on reclaimed land and work literally 50 meters from the Bay itself. There are no trees or buildings to break the wind and it's a 10 minute bike ride to the train station morning and night.
I can'i WAIT to get back to Florida!

Greetings from MOncton again, unfortunately. Just got back from Kent County... been gone since Tuesday. (Thanks Mr. Happy for your generous comments.) Changed out the cell for the twelve, loaded a two-four and a forty aboard and poionted er north. Moonlit, frosty nights and frosty frosties combined for some impromtu Irish ballads and war songs delivered to a captive audience, that is, the birds can't leave their roosts at 03:30h - come to think of it, the deer, moose, coyotes, etc, ain't got nowhere else to go neither. By the way, NOT ONE of them complained about my Hran playin... silly sods at the pub are fulla shite.

Yup, The Kent County Trio put on some good tunes, told some hellish stories, and ate some of the best Kent County Chicken ever tasted. Ya can't beat a pan of fried Birch and Spruce for finger food (that's Ruffed and Spruce Grouse for you educated lot). For those of you who don't know The Trio, it's a mixed Acadian French and Irish group.... there's Me, Moi and Jimmy Suis. Never was a finer bunch a fellahs. We get along famously. Oh, we have our differences sometimes, but we sort them out.

Saw it all: rain, shine, hail, snow, wind, calm, and moonlight so's you could see two hundred metres down the road... even further if Alfred hadn't smacked me twixt the lookers (Alfred as in Alfred Lamb's Palm Breeze Amber Rum). But, I had to pack it in today cause we got a warm south rain and wind comin in. Only good huntin for the next few days is deer huntin and I don't do that. Of course, if I was attacked, well... there'd be lots of finger food for the three of us.

Hope your weather is fine.

Here in North Idaho, the weather has been absolutely gorgeous this past month. Beautiful sunny days and the foliage on the trees is breathtaking. The past three nights, however, have been somewhat chilly. 15F ( -10C ).

I really enjoy this time of year also, and this Fall is a real corker. But we really need some rain and I know the snow will be here soon.

It is very, very windy, though it is much worse in Wales and South England, I just heard on the radio that at least 5 people have been killed in the south of England this morning, including a 22 year old woman that was crushed to death, when a tree was blown onto her car. Many parts of Wales are now without electricity, as the lines have been blown down in the gales, many roads and bridges are now closed.

Well, I came home (Ascot)last night from visiting my father in Birmingham (UK)to find our last beech tree which survived 1987 the gales is down, pulled out from the roots. Totalled my greenhouse, garden shed and contents and a length of fence (ours and 2 neighbours) fortunately no damage to houses but the rockery we put in in the spring is gone, too, it is now vertical. Off to contact insurance company and tree surgeons.

How about that. I was stranded up at Squilver yesterday with trees down on every road out. This morning, in time for work, they're all cleared up. We've lost a couple of slates but no significant damage, although it was pretty scary, as I'm sure that 'catters who know Squilver can imagine.

We seem to be ok, the town is in the "Banwy gorge" and gets some shelter. My sister's static caravan and car were damaged by falling branches in Caernarfon.
I'm going to the coast now, beachcombing!!

In case Gareth's comment about isolating England when the weather closes the bridges causes any confusion, (I'll add to it!)
From England into S.Wales there are two toll bridges across the river Severn. On both bridges the toll (£4-20 for cars) is paid to get into Wales. There is no charge for going into England !

As for the weather, one can do no worse than quote Flanders & Swann: (The Months; in DT)
Bleak September's mist and mud
Is enough to chill the blood.

Then October adds a gale
Wind and slush and rain and hail.

Dark November brings the fog
Should not do it to a dog.

Still as accurate as ever! Nigel

Just to let you know, tonite was the parade and my son wearing gloves' did't freeze nor did my daughter who was on the girl scout float. Both said they were fine not cold at all. Unfortunately those of us who were watching could't say that, we froze our freaking butts off. Maybe next year I'll march in the parade just to keep warm.
And to make it even better Halloween is suppose to be even colder with rain and possible snow. Oh Joy.:(

It has been in the 30s at night here all week, 40-50 days. I have no heat in my apartment either! I got some oil delivered this week but there is an electrical problem which the oil company says an electrician needs to fix. My landlord is not moving to do anything about it so far...I am thinking of just getting someone other than his electrician in to do the work and just deducting it from the rent. Slumlords suck.

brrr...

Glad I have all these old cashmere sweaters!

No fair! What is this? This is Alaska, even though it is southeast Alaska- and we don't have any snow at all. Just fog. Thick fog. Not many planes have made it in or out of town this whole last week. I read tonight that 41,000 pounds of mail for Juneau is being held at Sitka waiting for a window to get through into town.

Just back from Western Queensland. Temperatures generally 33 - 37 Celsius during the day, minimum about 16 C at night.

For about 200 miles from the coast, the grass is dry, but still has some food value for stock. For the next 200 miles, it's dried out and has no food value, but gives something to chew. After that, there's no grass at all.

Only a lucky few have wheat crops, and there are very few summer crops being planted (usually cotton and/or sorghum).

Glad I live on the coast - it's just stinking hot and humid.

Its pouring cold rain here in NH with snow not too far to the north. This has been a two season year, winter and summer; no mud season, no spring, no fall.

And as thsi awful weather began on Inauguratiob Day, today's misery is Nature's wrath on the people of this state who allowed their votes to be bought.

October in Oregon was sunny this year, nearly every day. Toward the end of the month the nights were colder, but there was very little frost. The leaves are falling late. 53 is right. October is the best month.

Well, last Friday night, it snowed up country. Never seen a foot of snow on November 1 in my life ! Brakes froze up overnight on the truck from running in puddles and then building up slush from the snow. Howwwwwever, forecast is 8C Saturday and 12C Sunday and Monday. Which means my predictions are coming true, once again - one more warm south rain. Then it'll freeze solid. I just hope that, when I am up country next week, the white butterflies are back where they usually hatch. I discovered them about twenty years ago and I've seen them in the same spot about five times since. It's amazing... in the middle of the woods, there's a spot where they hatch and then migrate. Thousands and thousands in a patch about 5m in diameter. Looks like a moving patch of snow. When they take off, at dusk, it's a site.

Carolina Blue Skies.

Hard and satisfying work dividing plants, planting seeds and bulbs, getting the garden ready for winter.

Apple pies, cakes, sauces and butter.

The GETAWAY!!!!!

The last four days have been an anomoly here in southeast Alaska. There's a high pressure ridge out there sending our normal rain northwest to Anchorage (couldn't happen to a nicer town) while we have blue skies and balmy air. Temperature has been in the 60s.

In the mornings fog rises above the sea that separates us from an island across the way, outlining our ocean front. I love living here.

We're supposed to get frost tonight, so I expect to be eating plenty of fried green tomatoes, since I don't expect them to ripen anymore.

I noticed the leaves on some trees starting to turn red.

I turned the heat on in my house yesterday for the first time this fall.

I started in bright sunshine &, within minutes, drove into pitch-black skies & *HAIL*!!! Another few minutes saw a gorgeous rainbow following me home. Boy, was it pretty w/ a backdrop of mountains! A half-hour later, I saw a 2nd rainbow. Pretty country here!
