We did B&B last year and the Travel Inn (or Lodge oh who cares they're all the same) was the only thing we found and we ain't doin' that again - 'sides I wus working last year.
Indoor camping is organised around three levels of noise but I only tried that once. It's the caravan for me and the train for Joy - but she only does the ceilidh anyway.

Hi

If you can, check out The Salt Town Poets who will be appearing as part of the poetry & story telling spot. We intersperse our poetry with music so we're worth a look even if you don't like poetry!

What was wrong with the Travel Lodge?

I'll be there with Brenda. Its only a 10min bus ride from my place in Coventry (sorry, Gurney, I don't think the no 20 bus goes past your place!) Brenda is stewarding and I'm on the guest list, so we're looking forward to a grand weekend. I'm even doing a "Meet the artist" with Steve Tilston on Sat pm so that is something for me to think about. Does any-one know what you do at these things?
Hope to meet up with fellow 'catters sometime, and Gurney I'll have a pint at 8.30pm sat, with Rod Felton at my side and we'll drink a toast to your health and old folk times in Coventry at The Cornerhouse.

Dave

I've done several "Meet the artists" at Bedworth - and the format varies depending on who the artists are! Roy Bailey just wanted to run it as a concert in roughly equal halves, others will do turn and turn about and chat to the audience. I suggest you have a word with Steve - also check out that neither of you are supposed to be appearing at a another spot which overlaps with the "Meet the artists" session (not unknown!).

Ran into Pete Burnham in Leicester on Saturday while visiting friends, he said that he's running a session on Saturday afternoon with Shiela entitled "The Battle of the Sexes" and is looking for appropiate contibutions. So come on all you misogynists - we know where you live!

The 'Battle of the Sexes' sounds very interesting. Will Mudcatters be wearing special insignia in order to be recognised (or not) as the case may be?? Red tulips, left side at dawn??

Will have nyckelharpa and fiddle with me.

No idea where I will be sleeping yet - indoor camping a distinct possibility.

Its smallish with a coffee/beer bar at the one end and people tend to drop in when they are in between concerts etc elsewhere but with a few stalwarts hanging on. I suppose a max of about 40 people, some of whom would like to sing as part of a singaround if at all possible please! What else do you want to know?

That's about all I wanted to know. I was a bit concerned that I wouldn't be able to get a pint! Is there a PA set up in there? My group, The Salt Town Poets, are hosting the poetry & story telling (which will also include some sing-along music) on the Sat. afto.

Any Mudcatter's please come & say hello.

Cheers, Ian.

Suggest you ask the organisers about the PA - I don't remember. I certainly didn't sing with a PA; the room's not very big. (However, I suppose I would say, as I have a big voice!)

PA should not be necessary in the coffee bar. Usually get a reasonable turnout for the Saturday storytelling segment.

It's the 29th and 30th November... is anyone interested?

Here's some info I received as an Email:

We (Bedworth Folk Festival) rely heavily on "Indoor Camping" having about
100 indoor campers as we are in November (just next week-end in fact, thanks
for the opportunity to mention that!) not many people fancy tenting. We
charge £3.00 for the week-end (i.e. 2 nights) with all the money going to
the local scouts and St john Ambulance who kindly let us use their buildings
for the week-end.

We have previously also used a local youth centre, but council regulations
eventually prevented us from using "overnight".

We feel everyone wins with a decent contribution going to the organisations
and no objections to the £3.00 charge for staying in the comfort of a heated
building rather than a tent at this time of the year - I also understand
that the "through the night" singarounds are also popular with some hardy
types - fortunately there is a separate room for those insomniacs!

Just thought someone might find it useful.

Yea, park your pitch where the wind don't blow! Don't you have problems getting out of your tent in the morning with bleary eyes? Tumbling down the bonnet (hood for those across the pond), etc!
