True story folks....with the names VERY changed so that I don't hear from someone tomorrow who wants to Kill me!

Heading to a gig with three of my friends (two musicians and a "civilian") The two musicians LOVE old songs and whatever this kind of humour is called.

We play a similar game to this, with FISH puns (you get the picture). After twenty minutes our non-musician friend says (in an irritated voice) "enough PLEASE enough". We shoulda stopped. We didn't. Two minutes later she burst into hysterical tears.....didn't stop for quite a while....we came back from the gig and she still wouldn't speak to us. That was years ago (at least a couple)....she's still mad.

hmmmmm me bad.

(I don't know where this originated...)

Indian Curry Rhapsody

(to the tune of Bohemian Rhapsody)

Naan, ah, just killed a man
Poppadom against his head
Had lime pickle, now he's dead
Naan, ah, dinner's just begun
But now I'm gonna crap it all away
Naan, ohhhh ohhhhhh
Didn't mean to make you cry
Seen nothing yet just see the loo tomorrow
Curry on, curry on
Cause nothing really madras

Too late, my dinner's gone
Sends shivers down my spine
Rectum aching all the time
Goodbye Onion Bhaji, I've got to go
Gotta leave you all behind and use the loo
Naan, ohhhhh ohhhhh
The Doopiaza is so mild
I sometimes wish we'd never come here at all

(Instrumental break)

I see a little Chicken Tikka on the side
Rogan Josh, Rogan Josh, pass the chutney of mango
Vindaloo does nicely
Very very spicy
Meat
Byriani (Byriani)
Byriani (Byriani)
Byriani and a naan
(a Vindaloo loo loo loo)

I've eaten Balti, somebody help me
He's eaten Balti, get him to the lavatory
Stand you well back
Cause the loo is quarantined...
Here it comes
There it goes
Technicolor yawn
I chunder
No!
It's coming up again
(there he goes)
I chunder its coming back again (there he goes)
Coming back again (up again)
Here it goes again
(no, no, no, no, no, no no)
On my knees I'm on my knees
On his knees, oh, there he goes
This Vindaloo
It's about to wreck my guts
Poor me.... Poor me..... Poor meeee....

(Instrumental break)
So you think you can chunder and then feel alright?
So you try to eat curry and drink beer all night?
Oh maybe, but now you puke like a baby
Just had to come out
It just had to come right out in here

(Instrumental break)

Nothing really madras
Any one curry
Nothing really madras to me
(anyway my wind blows…)

"My Hindustani Granny" was the title of a great song i was honoured to be given the text for, at Toender Festival in Denmark c.1986, by the late Hamish Imlach. The chorus of which goes:
I huv a grannie and she´s a Hindustani,
She´s ma Hindustani grannie frae Bombay,

Somehow the last two chorus lines did not appear in the last posting so here goes: She feeds me chipatties, wi´ curried mince an´ tatties and I´m vindaloo all day.
Unfortunately this song was never allowed to be recorded because of some eedjit in the "Hairy Louder" Society holding the rights to the tune of "I love a lassie".

I've just heard a sketch by Jasper Carrott who said he was introduced to the hottest curry of all time in Newcastle. It was so hot that the side dish was a plate of Savlon.

Ritchie "I've just heard a sketch by Jasper Carrott who said he was introduced to the hottest curry of all time in Newcastle.".

Not song related (except that I was on my way to the local folk club) but I was in my local curry house and somebody at the next table ordered a Chicken Korma with the request to that they "Wanted it hot". The waiter pointed out that Chicken Korma was a mild curry.

"I know that" came the reply "but I want it hot, not lukewarm like the one you served me last week".

Funny old thing language.

Kevin, talking of late-night eating in that area have you heard Chris Pitt's parody on the Boar's Head Carol "from the previously uncollected Walthamstow Urban Tradition"

"This doner kebab I bear in hand
Is the finest in the land..."

You'll have to hear the rest from him on a suitable occasion.

Yep

Chris sang it at our Christmas party since we insist all spots are seasonal..............

And there was plenty of seasoning in the kebab, I believe

That reminds me, the most convoluted song title (which I think is what this thread is all about to get back on track) was one I heard at the National, so long ago it was still at Loughborough University was

"Bhindi red red Rhogan Ghosht kebab kebab kebabin' along"

Boney Mac, you may be interested to know that, the song, Hindustani Granny, was written by actor, Alex Norton, who currently plays heid bummer, DCI Matt Burke, in BBC's TV series about every day Glasgow polis, Taggart.

And Saturday's here at last
I've been for several pints with me pals
And now it's time to eat
So we'll direct our feet
To the curry house that's called the Taj Mahal

And it's straight I will repair
For the curries they serve there
Are the hottest in England I declare"

To the tune of "Curragh of Kildare" - but it's still work in progress, is it worth finishing off? How about a collaborative completion??

Fine beginning, Alan!

Here's an appropriate verse from an old sailortown shanty:

We're rolling down to old Bombay,
Yes, we're rolling down to Old Bombay;
Of the pox you needn't worry,
If you use a little curry,
We're rolling down to Old Bombay!

Cheerily,
