Subject: BS: What would you like for Christmas From: rock chick Date: 16 Dec 02 - 07:36 PM A very Happy Christmas to all Madcatters. So come on what would you REALLY like for Christmas, there are a few things I would like, but deep down I would like peace everywhere and everyone just to be content and happy, and of course good music, these things you can't buy with money and they are worth more than anything money can buy. |
Subject: RE: BS: What would you like for Christmas From: Leadfingers Date: 16 Dec 02 - 07:43 PM Apart from Peace on Earth and Good will to all Men I would cheerfully settle for enough cash to pay off the mortgage and buy a decent car so I could tell them to do the usual thing with the day job,and go back to playing music seriously again.Or a nice bottle of GOOD mat whisky. |
Subject: RE: BS: What would you like for Christmas From: Catherine Jayne Date: 16 Dec 02 - 07:46 PM A 5 string Fiddle please.......Sorcha would like one too!!! |
Subject: RE: BS: What would you like for Christmas From: Dead Horse Date: 16 Dec 02 - 08:05 PM Leadfingers: Mat whisky - as opposd to *shine* I suppose;-) I'd like a winning lottery ticket......................... ................and peace on earth & all that stuff. |
Subject: RE: BS: What would you like for Christmas From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 16 Dec 02 - 08:30 PM I want my Mudcat CDs to arrive in time to open them on Christmas Day. World peace would be nice, but it seems rather a tall order right now. |
Subject: RE: BS: What would you like for Christmas From: Poddy Date: 16 Dec 02 - 08:33 PM a five-string for me too, and an amp, and someone to pay off my credit card bills and put me through grad school, and a food processor, and a playstation 2. And peace on earth, goodwill to men, and an end to world hunger. Visualize Whirled Peas! |
Subject: RE: BS: What would you like for Christmas From: Jeri Date: 16 Dec 02 - 09:26 PM CatsPHiddle don't forget me! I want a 5 string fiddle too! Actually, I don't have money, I don't have relatives (let alone ones with disposable incomes) and my friends don't have any money. In reaction to the lack of money I've developed a lack of concern over not having any. Peace is good, but I'm selfish even if I don't have cash. I want love, I want music, and I want to laugh so hard I get a cramp in my face. |
Subject: RE: BS: What would you like for Christmas From: Bobert Date: 16 Dec 02 - 09:34 PM There is nothing materially I can honestly say I would like more than for my country to not invade Iraq. Nothin'! Not a winnin' lotto ticket! Not nothin'! Bobert |
Subject: RE: BS: What would you like for Christmas From: GUEST,JennyO Date: 16 Dec 02 - 09:45 PM Right now I am still recovering from a broken wrist which I thought was healed and I have to spend another few weeks in plaster, so what I am wishing for is my health and the love and support of my friends and my kids(I already know I can count on that).Sufficient money for my needs would be nice, too. Finances are a bit grim cos I can't do my usual job which involves driving. AND LOTS OF MUSIC AND LAUGHTER!!!! I believe music can do a lot to heal the world. |
Subject: RE: BS: What would you like for Christmas From: mg Date: 16 Dec 02 - 10:01 PM all the above intangibles, plus some tangibles. Warm fuzzy socks and the plum Mudcat CD and one of those little tents that just pop open I could take to the ocean and throw on the beach and a new old dishwasher for Sunnycamp. Maybe a Pat Humphries CD too. mg |
Subject: RE: BS: What would you like for Christmas From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 16 Dec 02 - 10:25 PM I would say that I want a five-string fiddle too, but my wife has drawn the line at the fiddle. She has allowed me to learn hammer dulcimer, banjo and Dobro during the time we've been married without giving me too much grief. But, she's already divorced one beginning fiddler and probably wouldn't hesitate to make it two. I guess I'll settle for some new strings for a few of the instruments I've already got. Bruce |
Subject: RE: BS: What would you like for Christmas From: Bill D Date: 16 Dec 02 - 11:09 PM oh, I guess maybe an exemption from entropy would do me just fine..... and a good bottle of very old Springbank single malt scotch. |
Subject: RE: BS: What would you like for Christmas From: Sorcha Date: 16 Dec 02 - 11:46 PM Apart from the 5 string and Whirled Peas, I would really like a CD player that actually works......so I can listen to all this new stuff. Oh, and for Mr. to stay home long enough for a good back rub.....well, maybe an all over rub....... |
Subject: RE: BS: What would you like for Christmas From: Haruo Date: 17 Dec 02 - 12:28 AM I'd be happy with peace on earth and a reasonably comprehensive Japanese-Esperanto dictionary. And maybe Internet access. Haruo |
Subject: RE: BS: What would you like for Christmas From: fat B****rd Date: 17 Dec 02 - 04:25 AM Apart from POE of course I really would like to feel secure about our Endowment Policy (cue double-breasted suit and false promises) and hope that we don't have to ask for sheltered accomodation instead of owning our little house. Lord ! what a whingebag. Naturally I want Cds, books and DVDs. Merry Christmas 'catters. |
Subject: RE: BS: What would you like for Christmas From: Alio Date: 17 Dec 02 - 07:26 AM To have all the people I love around me - healthy and happy - and to hear that George Bush has fallen through a hole in the road somewhere (I reckon that's the nearest thing to achieving world peace at the moment!) |
Subject: RE: BS: What would you like for Christmas From: JennyO Date: 17 Dec 02 - 07:30 AM Likewise our not-so-illustrious leader in Australia - little Johnny Howard. Jenny |
Subject: RE: BS: What would you like for Christmas From: Amos Date: 17 Dec 02 - 11:18 AM I'd just LOVE a decent banjo, a nice desktop soundstudio thing, a Martin 12-string, a car with less than 100,000 miles on it, a 36-foot sailboat, a workshop with a small CNC mill and a lathe in it, a contract for my book, and a new job. But you know what? I am getting something much better instead -- my best beloved daughter is bound home for Xmas at the end of the week, and it looks like she will be pulling down a very successful first semester at the Conservatory, and my best beloved wife will be by my side, and her Mom's coming over and an array of really fine friends and about ten thousand Sea Monkeys. So all in all, I reckon I am doing okay, thanks!! A |
Subject: RE: BS: What would you like for Christmas From: greg stephens Date: 17 Dec 02 - 11:40 AM Some socks, some underpants, some rather tight-fitting gloves, a humorous keyring that plays irritating tunes, and a book I've already got. Usual sort of things. |
Subject: RE: BS: What would you like for Christmas From: GUEST,Walking Eagle Date: 17 Dec 02 - 11:41 AM Someone to watch over me! A nice man to be with to stick with me through my rough times. I promise I'll stick by him during his rough times. Mid 50's and sexy gray hair! Oh and he should play music as well! Sigh! Dream on woman. |

Subject: RE: BS: What would you like for Christmas From: CarolC Date: 17 Dec 02 - 03:05 PM I would like my loved ones and the people I care about to be safe and happy. As a little extra bonus, I wouldn't mind if everyone in the world could be safe and happy. And warm. Safe, happy, and warm. And well fed. Safe, happy, warm, and well fed. But not too warm. So I'd like the ones in hot places to be cool enough to be comfortable. So that's safe, happy, well fed, and comfortable. That's not too much to ask, is it? Oh, yeah, and I'd like them to be healthy too. That's about it, I think. Thank you very much. |
Subject: RE: BS: What would you like for Christmas From: Catherine Jayne Date: 17 Dec 02 - 03:05 PM toy boys???? Im only 22 if I had a toyboy it would be illegal!!! I am VERY HAPPY with the man I have and we have a wonderful and loving relationship. Cat |

Subject: RE: BS: What would you like for Christmas From: Cluin Date: 17 Dec 02 - 06:01 PM To quote Steve Martin: "If I had one wish that I could wish this holiday season, it would be for all the children of the world to join hands and sing together in the spirit of harmony and peace. If I had two wishes I could make this holiday season, the first would be for all the children of the world to join hands and sing in the spirit of harmony and peace. And the second would be for 30 million dollars a month to be given to me, tax-free in a Swiss bank account. You know, if I had three wishes I could make this holiday season, the first, of course, would be for all the children of the world to get together and sing, the second would be for the 30 million dollars every month to me, and the third would be for encompassing power over every living being in the entire universe. And if I had four wishes that I could make this holiday season, the first would be the crap about the kids definitely, the second would be for the 30 million, the third would be for all the power, and the fourth would be to set aside one month each year to have an extended 31-day orgasm, to be brought out slowly by Rosanna Arquette and that model Paulina-somebody, I can't think of her name. Of course my lovely wife can come too and she's behind me one hundred percent here, I guarantee it. Wait a minute, maybe the sex thing should be the first wish, so if I made that the first wish (because it could all go boom tomorrow, then what do you got, y'know?). No, no, the kids, the kids singing would be great, that would be nice. But wait a minute, who am I kidding? They're not going to be able to get all those kids together. I mean, the logistics of the thing is impossible, more trouble than it's worth! So -- we reorganize! Here we go. First, the sex thing. We go with that. Second, the money. No, we got with the power second, then the money. And then the kids. Oh wait, oh jeez, I forgot about revenge against my enemies! Okay, I need revenge against all my enemies, they should die like pigs in hell! That would be my fourth wish. And, of course, my fifth wish would be for all the children of the world to join hands and sing together in the spirit of harmony and peace. Thank you everybody and Merry Christmas. " |

Subject: RE: BS: What would you like for Christmas From: rock chick Date: 23 Dec 02 - 05:14 PM Only just over one day to go now, that's if you live in England. Well I wish you all receive something along the lines you have wished for: be it a good man, great music ( or maybe it should be a great man and good music and peace in our troubled world. What I have wished for may come true, there again it may not, but there is nothing wrong with wishing. Can't tell you what it is or it may not come happen! Happy Christmas to you all, or I would prefer "Happy Holiday" as the Americans say, that covers all ethnic groups. |

Subject: RE: BS: What would you like for Christmas From: GUEST,Boab_d Date: 24 Dec 02 - 10:19 AM I would like that feeling of excitment when you woke up when you were about 5 years old and your parents were in bed while you sneeked into the living room oh so quiet and opened all your presents with your siblings. That was just the best. But I'm a little to old now, so for everyone to wake up on Christmas morning say thanks to who or what ever they beleive in and say thankyou for the day and smile the whole day through. That would be a great Christmas for many people I think, especially me but I'm working away this one but hame on the 27th so I'll make up for it then Dylan |
Subject: RE: BS: What would you like for Christmas From: JedMarum Date: 24 Dec 02 - 10:28 AM relief from debt! When I was in the adult world, working a day job - this was a modest and manageabe issue - now that I am working as a musician, I will spend the rest of my working life atoning for past consumer-based sins! (not really consumer, college loans, mortgage, cars, and taxes are the biggest part of it). So maybe Santa will bring me a winning lottery ticket - not too much, just enough to get this monkey off my back!! Oh, and maybe enough to buy me a Glen Reid baritone guitar! |
Subject: RE: BS: What would you like for Christmas From: Celtic Soul Date: 24 Dec 02 - 03:52 PM For me? Less stress. X-mas, gigs, music to research, wedding to plan, kid to raise, 9-5 job...sheesh, I need a day off. In general, pretty much the same...some peace for the world at large. |
Subject: RE: BS: What would you like for Christmas From: *daylia* Date: 25 Dec 02 - 12:14 PM I'd like my for my Dad, who has suffered through a stroke and two hip replacements over the last couple years, to be in less pain and be able to get himself around a little easier. It's really hard for him to be unable to work and to do all the things around the house/yard he used to love to do. He really feels 'useless' and depressed at times. I wish he'd believe me when I tell him that all the things he gives to us now - his time, his love and his practical wisdom and advice - are just as important as doing chores and earning money. Maybe even more so. I'll just keep on telling him ... And I wish that every awful upsetting headline was followed by one of peace and hope. And that people would focus on creating MORE peace and hope in their own little 'worlds', in their own families and communities. That way 'world peace' might just be a reality someday ... I wish more ways could be found to meet our needs/wants WITHOUT polluting and destroying our beautiful planet. And that the powerful 'world leaders' - political, economic AND industrial - would see fit to help us make it so. That seems like a real tall order, so I'll stop now. Wonder if Santa could fit all that on his sleigh ... Peace and joy daylia |
