Subject: Folklore: Do you have songbooks with toasts? From: GUEST,mudcat1.20.jpm21@spamgourmet.com Date: 30 Jan 03 - 06:00 PM I am writing a book of toasts & would like to correspond with anyone who has any songsters or songbooks with toasts in them. Personally I have a collection of early songsters from 1779 to 1865 that I would be willing to send you digital copies of and then perhaps you would be able to send me digital photographs or scans of the toasts in your songsters. If you have a songbook with toasts in it & would like to trade, please feel free to mail me. My personal email is john(AT)mehlberg.com Sincerely, John Mehlberg ~ Here is my OCRed version of the 1800 Merry Muses of Caledonia. The zipped (116k) file contains two versions of the _Merry Muses_ one in HTML and one in Rich Text Format (.rtf). http://mehlberg.com/1800_merry_muses_of_caledonia.zip |

Subject: RE: Folklore: Do you have songbooks with toasts? From: GUEST,John Mehlberg Date: 31 Jan 03 - 12:42 PM Thanks for everyone responding. I have most of the antique toast books (aprox. 150 books). Previous to about 1850 there were no books that were *just* books of toasts. What one would find instead is that there were songbooks which would have a selection of toasts -- usually in the back. Since I have started to collect such books, I thought that it would be less expensive to *trade* digital copies of the songsters instead of purchasing them. I don't have the $ to purchase everything that I would like and thought that trading would help everyone.... I know that this archive gets archived. So if you run across this thread later, please feel free to email me at john(AT)mehlberg.com John Mehlberg |
