My recommendation is to buy this later edition - has a lot more songs in. See www.collectorsfolk.co.uk Dave |
Subject: RE: Songbook: Come all ye bold miners From: Mary Humphreys Date: 26 Dec 03 - 06:22 PM That edition is well worth the money. I was lucky to pick one up secondhand about ten years ago for five pounds fifty. I don't think the bookseller knew much about songbooks or he'd have charged me three times the price. |

Subject: RE: Songbook: Come all ye bold miners From: GUEST,Hartlepool Folk Festival Date: 08 Apr 15 - 05:59 AM To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the end of the Miners' Strike, Hartlepool Folk Festival is featuring a concert which celebrates the continuing impact of this seminal collection of songs. Come All Ye Bold Miners, on Saturday 17 October, features Dick Gaughan, the Wilsons, Durham Miners' Association Brass Band, Benny Graham, Bob Davenport, Taffy Thomas, Pete Wood, plus special guests Bert Draycott and Johnny Handle, whose songs were collected for the 1978 edition of the book. The 1978 edition contained a wealth of songs from the North East, and we're delighted to be able to showcase these. We're also hoping to have a display of pit banners over the weekend in the beautiful church of St Hilda on the Headland, where the concert takes place. |
