Not to rain on any parades but, years ago I was told (by someone involved) that the organization in charge will sell a star to any one with enough name recognition.

Anyone who has earned enough money as a banjo player to afford a star, deserves one. I would have to think that Earl is probably the only one.

That's the point. Earl's name is now recognizable enough that the Hollywood Star Committee excepted the funds to put Earl's name on Hollywood Blvd.

Doc Watson's 80th birthday is March 3. He's an amazing talent and he can still plays and sing wit hthe best.

The photo was taken for a CD and music DVD that features Earl, Ricky Skaggs, Doc Watson, Allison Krause and others. It should come out soon. I'll keep you posted. Doc said that "There were too many chiefs and not enough indians" and that a "camerman dropped his camera on the stage on one take."

The show should be aired as part of a PBS Special on Earl.
