Subject: Pat Cooksey in Coventry(UK) From: Dave4Guild Date: 28 Feb 03 - 02:31 PM I was talking to Sean Cannon (of the Dubliners) last night (Thurs. 27th Feb) and he told me that Pat Cooksey is coming to Coventry. A message on the net confirms this and the date is the 13th of March, A thursday. The Venue is The Four Provinces Social Club, Allesley Old Road, Spon End, Coventry. This is just up the road from The Dyer's Arms, a pub famous for its sessions some years ago and where many of Pat's songs (The Sick Note being one) were performed for the first time. This is the first time Pat will be performing in his old stamping ground for some years and should not be missed for those who are able to get to the venue. Hopefully we will see some "Catters" there. Dave Bennett/Brenda Hart |

Subject: RE: Pat Cooksey in Coventry(UK) From: GUEST,Gerry. Date: 01 Mar 03 - 09:46 AM Is Pat playing any other dates, Coventry's a bit far from Newcastle. If this is a one off we'll try and make it. |

Subject: RE: Pat Cooksey in Coventry(UK) From: GUEST,Pat Cooksey. Date: 02 Mar 03 - 09:22 AM Just the one official gig this time, although I'm sure there will be some informal sessions as well. I spent many happy years playing around Coventry in my early days, and look forward to meeting old friends from that time again. Pat. |
Subject: RE: Pat Cooksey in Coventry(UK) From: GUEST,Hannes, Germany. Date: 03 Mar 03 - 02:09 AM We saw pat with sean cannon in Augsburg two weeks ago, after the concert they sang for hours longer sitting with the crowd and drinking it was great. |
Subject: RE: Pat Cooksey in Coventry(UK) From: GUEST,Don from Leeds. Date: 03 Mar 03 - 05:44 PM booked a day off for Friday, we 'll be there. |
Subject: RE: Pat Cooksey in Coventry(UK) From: Peterr Date: 17 Mar 03 - 11:04 AM Too far from Cornwall ! From when I lived in the W Midlands I have a very amateur recording of Pat with fiddler Brian Patten at Redditch in I think 1976. Songs include Sunday Papers and one about Amin. Patten was very fond of making train noises on his fiddle in Orange Blossom Special, and I seem to recall Pat's right arm virtually seizing up keeping the steam loco beat going. Wish I could see Pat in Coventry. |
Subject: RE: Pat Cooksey in Coventry(UK) From: GUEST,James Donovan. Date: 25 Mar 03 - 05:54 PM Saw Pat perform three times in the four P's and once in the White Lion, Brinklow. This guy is a one off and deserves all the sucess he has finally enjoyed, the sick note is but a small part of his repetoire, what a voice. |
