This is a long shot, but can anyone recommend any?

The crireria is quiet, not too many children and within walking distance of a picturesque bay or town.

A couple of nice quiet pubs would be an advantage too.

By 'walking distance' I'm looking at anything up to a mile (more if it's really nice)

We stayed at Porthcothan Bay but the site was attached to a petting farm so is likely to attract children - however there was another campsite in the area but I can't remember the name. Beautiful bay though and a nice pub/restaurant.

Dennis Cove, near Padstow, is where we stayed, about 13 years back. It's just an ordinary camp but it's about 5 minutes walk from Padstow and that's really picturesque. It used to be run by Mr Geach but I don't know it he's still there.
In Padstow there's a ferry to take you across to Rock and from there you walk along the beach to find the little church (St Enodoc's) which was buried in the sand. There are walks all around the area, to St George's Well, to Stepper point and the lighthouse, to Crugmeer and Tregudda Gorge and the blowhole. But don't fall in! In 1972 a 13 year-old boy slid down the cliff and, because he was in winter clothing, he went under. They never found him - until about 3 months later - a pair of shoes washed up on the beach at Trevone - with feet in them!
If you want some exercise you can hire bikes and ride along the old railway (the lines have gone), over the iron bridge and as far as Wadebridge, if you want (but that took me hours on a large size trike with a 4 year-old on the back) and there are ferry rides out of the harbour and up the coast.
Apart from several interesting pubs, there are/were quite a few folkies living in that area and you're within an easy drive to the Bodmin Folk Club as well as others I'm not familiar with.
If I wasn't halfway around the world, that's where I'd like to be right now! It's my favourite place in the whole world!
(And if you go on Mayday you see the Obby Oss, but there are thousands of people squashed in town that day.)

Give my love to Cornwall!
Robyn

I've stayed at Trelowarran, Mawgan, near Helston, and would recommend it. It's in walking distance of the Frenchman's Creek river, and several villages with pubs. And a seal sanctuary. Also Culdrose. And Goonhilly. It's quiet, though has visiting entertainers, local silver bands, folk groups etc a couple of times a week. (And Culdrose sometimes does night helicopter exercises.)(And the seals can be heard if the wind is in the right direction.)(And the Flambards theme park at Helston has fireworks on a Wednesday.)

We managed to get six miles inside the totality line for the '99 eclipse, and stayed at the noisier of two campsites in Polzeath. The quieter one is out of town a bit, but they're both close to Rock, or Knightsbridge-on-sea. That's north coast, if you want rocks, just a short ferry ride from PadStein

Email HRH Prince Charles and see if you can camp on his estate.
