Subject: BS: JennyO a grandma any day now
From: JennyO
Date: 23 Jun 03 - 11:44 AM

I have just been visiting my son and daughter-in-law, George and Michelle, in Gosford (about an hour away) because my first grandson is due in a few days time.

The due date is actually June 31 (I originally thought it was June 24), but there are signs that it might be earlier. As it happens, the birth is going to take place in the same hospital that my son was born in.

We are all very excited at the prospect, and I thought I would like to share some of my excitement with you all, and have some help in sending good vibes to them and soon-to-be new mudkitten, Max.

I will keep you all posted on any new developments!

Jenny

Bad news. June 31st will never arrive.
"30 Days has September
April JUNE and November..."

Or is the doctor overcome with excitement too?

And the Mudkitten is to be named Max?

Congratulations! Enjoy!

Oops, you're right. They did say June 31st, believe it or not, and I didn't even query it. Doh.... I'd better hurry up and tell them, or he'll never be born, poor kid ;-)

I guess we have all been overcome with something, and it's manifesting itself as stupidity. I have even mentioned this date to a few friends of normal intelligence, and no-one questioned it.

Yes, he is going to be Max - full name Maxwell Alexander. I think it's pretty kewl too. I imagine our Max would probably think so as well!

Katlaughing, you'll be surprised how quickly December comes around. It seems like no time since they first told me.

Sorcha, yours is due early September, isn't that right?

Looks like a whole litter of new mudkittens soon!

Running up and down steps or riding over a bumpy road in a late 60s VW will help move things along. Patience is not one of my virtues.

Sinsull, having had a late 60's VW once, I know exactly what you mean.

Maybe I'll offer to take Michelle for a nice ride to St Albans in my old Holden station wagon! Those who've been there know about the road and its strategically placed network of potholes and bumps. That should do the trick! ;^)

Normally I'm a very patient person, but I must confess I'm on the edge of my seat with this one.

If you are relying on a sonogram as to the sex of the child, hold back a small percent probability that it's a girl, no matter what the sonogram technician says. I know two little girls who were going to be boys according to the sonogram.

What's a sonogram? Is that the same as an ultrasound, which is what they had? They never mentioned any possibility of error.

Jenny is still waiting - if baby is not born this weekend her very clever son will visit her & re-connect her computer.

Of course, if Max decides to pop into the world too soon his dad & grandma will have better thing to to do than worry about computers.

But I'll keep you posted.

Still waiting! George came and reconnected my computer this morning. Due to some flatmate problems, I had to suddenly move my computer into my bedroom on Friday, but I needed him to reconnect it for me. It was only a couple of days, but I felt quite bereft without it. It's good to be back.

The doctor said the baby had moved down last week, but now it appears to have moved up again - maybe backing off to take a run at it? Two more days to go, officially.

yep ultrasounds can be wrong....... I've seen quite a few girls come out who should have been boys... and vice versa... unfortunately those "mistakes" seem to happen to the people who are deparate to have whichever type they didn't get.....

Jenny ... take this advice from a midwife....... a damn good orgasm is is a great way to get labour started....... it releases the same hormones as they use when they have to induce someone....... I know its problaby the last thing she wants to do ... but.........

good luck... Gosford is a good maternity unit.... and a lot of the midwives are qualified reflexologists (like me)... so tell her to make sure she gets her feet done!!

Hi Alison. I'm sure they would like your suggestion of how to get things started!

Also I know Gosford is good from first hand experience. I had both my children there.

My doctor was a bit slack, though. He thought I was going to take a while, and put off his 20 minute trip in from Wyong till too late - BOTH TIMES! You would think he would have learned something from the first time. He swanned in just in time to say "Oh you had the baby? Good. Ten fingers and ten toes? Good. See you later."

But the nursing sisters and midwives at the hospital were just brilliant, so it didn't matter at all. I'm sure they do all the work anyway, whether the doctor is there or not.

As for the sex of the baby, George and Michelle are aware that the prediction is not 100% certain. They have been given a lot of blue things, but I don't think they are really attached to wanting one sex more than the other. I doubt that this will be their last, anyway. George is very keen. In some ways, he seems more clucky than Michelle. I'm sure they will be happy either way, and will have plenty of love to give.

Still no word, but the due date is not till Tuesday. When it does happen I will probably go up there, and might have to be a GUEST on George's computer.

If Mudcat does happen to be down when Max appears, I will start a thread on the Annexe.

"Clucky" (as used in Oz) is used to refer to someone who gets all gooey at the thought of small babies. As in: "She's gone all clucky since her sister had triplets!"
Any news yet, Jenny?

Nothing yet Jennie. I spoke to them this morning and Michelle went to the hospital to get things checked out. Everything is normal, and nobody is worried yet. There can be errors up to 2 weeks when they are calculating the date.

She's been given a few tips on how to get things started, and I passed on the ideas from Mudcatters. I was assured that a good orgasm didn't have the desired effect, although the trying was fun :-)

Sinsull, he'll be George W over my dead body - similarly John Howard or a number of other pollies I can think of (shudder). It did occur to me to wonder what a burden the poor kid would carry if he ended up being "born on the 4th of July", but that is looking unlikely now as it is 6.30pm here.

Leeneia, I didn't realize "clucky" is an Oz word. It is a good one, isn't it! I'm feeling clucky too, in a grandmotherly sort of way.

Oh well, session tonight, and a weekend trip tomorrow to Newcastle for a combined choirs thing, if nothing has happened. I'll have my mobile with me though. Even if I have it on, which I shouldn't, I probably won't hear it over all the singing!

Hi Helen. Good thing I checked this thread just before leaving.

What it is, is the 15th anniversary of the Newcastle People's Chorus. They have invited members of other choirs and past members to come and help them celebrate with a concert and session.

It starts at Hamilton RSL in Tudor St with a practice and song sharing from 2pm to 5pm. Then at 7pm there will be a public concert followed by a party and sessions. I gather the concert will be in the same place. Not many Solidarity people - just Miguel, me, Fran and Mark. I'll be staying with one of the choir people tonight - John Day.

If anything happens with the baby and I can't get to a computer, I will let Sandra know and she can pass it on.

Now I really must go or I'll be late.

Keep that huffing and puffing going, folks :-o

Jenny is still away & Michele is a week overdue & will be induced on Friday unless bub pops out into the world on his own.

Jenny is hoping Max choses to come into the world tomorrow or at the latest Thursday as she doesn't want to miss a one-off 20 year reunion concert on Saturday night. Neither of us were around when the artists were performing 20 years ago.

I have suggested giving the lad a severe talking to - he's surely old enough to listen to his grannie's reasonable request that he arrive at a convenient time.

We are 8 days overdue now. He isn't taking any notice of any of us, in spite of all our virtual heave-ho-ing and pushing.

Helen, I looked for you in case you were there at Newcastle. I can't imagine why you didn't get an invite. Someone must have been falling down on the job. Anyway, it was a nice day and night. I agree John Day is a lovely bloke. I stayed with him and Joan in February when the Loudmouth Festival was on too. I've been coveting one of his dulcimers since then - I wish I could afford one, but I have to be sensible with my money at the moment. Bor-ing.

Well, Michelle was going for another checkup today, and if nothing has happened by Sunday (our time - we are 14 hours ahead of Mudcat time) they will induce her. Then something will HAVE to happen. I think it would be easier for her if it happens naturally, but we will have to wait and see.

10 days overdue now. I wonder if young Max is going to make a habit of being this late all his life!

Huldre Folk were excellent! I had a tape of them from the 1984 National Folk Festival, and so knew some of their stuff practically off by heart, although I had never seen them. They have not played together for a very long time, because I believe Victor is living in Canada and only came out here now for a visit. So this concert was very special. I went home happy because Victor sang "Moscow Drug Club", Yuri did the story about Aberfan, and of course they did "I still call Mongolia home". I didn't buy a CD though. I'll probably be sorry.

Michelle goes into hospital tomorrow, but they don't start inducing her till Monday morning (Sunday evening Mudcat time). Okay Max, you can come out now - unless of course you'd like to wait for MMario to get back...................

Well Michelle is in hospital now, and I believe it will all start happening in about 7 hours. Hopefully not long now, folks!

Jenny

Just got back from Blackwater and couldn't wait to check up on little gnu. If my math is any good, someone(s) should be pretty tense about now. Good luck all. God bless.

Well, I just got a text message from George:

"Maxwell Alexander Carter born 9.38. All three are well..."

YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! I'M A GRANNY!

9.38(am) was less than an hour ago. It actually appears to have happened quite quickly once they started the induction. He must have been ready.

I'm going up there now, so I might be a GUEST the next time I post. As I find out more details, I will let you all know.

Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!

Jenny (running round in circles with excitement)

You need to be careful, running around in circles at your age.

Looks as thouh I'm first in with congratulations - those people on the strange sides of the world aren't up yet.

:-))))))

Here's a link to the other thread.

JennyO's grandson Max born 14July 9.38am

Hrothgar, seems I'm a goose too. I just accidentally posted this link on the other thread, so that people can link to the thread they are already on. Dohhhh.

My only excuse is that I am on a strange computer, where the screen is laid out a little differently - or I'm practising to be a forgetful old granny.

Jenny

May I come and watch you programming a video?

Now then Roger, I do a pretty damn good job of programming a video. My current one I bought second hand a few years ago without instructions, and I figured it all out. Nobody else could though. In fact I've programmed other peoples' for them too.

No, it's just the excitement, lack of sleep, and the strange computer. Back to normal now, I hope - or whatever passes for normal around here ;-)

I can't believe they put the smile on my smiley face on the next line!   :-(

Note to self - always preview.
