Subject: RE: Banjo Pickers, Is this you?? From: Dr. Guitar Date: 30 Jun 03 - 10:31 AM My dear friends, The site most helpfully referred to by Mr. Latimer is run, of course, by my old colleague from instrument-doctoring school, Dr. Neaubahnjeaux! It is a great comfort to me that Dr. Neaubahnjeaux has taken on the onerous and important work of ministering to the banjo-afflicted in such a way, just as I humbly attempt to do here for our guitar affected colleagues, although I will of couse, as professional ethics demand, also help with other "nonvellum" fretted instrument issues. But the banjo, just as the accordion is a very special affliction and, as such, should be dealt with by a properly qualified practicioner although I would not turn a patient away in a real emergency situation. I do not approve of those cruel banjo jokes that are reproduced on that site. Banjo players, like accordion and melodeon players, were of course once normal and well-adjusted members of society and it is not necessarily their fault that they were led off of the straight and narrow path. I think therefore it behoves us all not to make fun of them but rather to exercise compassion as one should for all suffering beings! Indeed, I even own a banjo myself, although in the spirit of trying to be a doctor and gentleman at the same time, these days it remains in its case. I am going to go over to my own thread immediately in order to provide a link to Dr. Neaubahnjeaux's services! Yours most sincerely, Dr. Guitar |

Subject: RE: Banjo Pickers, Is this you?? From: rangeroger Date: 30 Jun 03 - 10:50 PM When I first saw the picture, I recognized Ron DeLacy who, together with Dave Cavanagh form the band known as DooDooWah. Their campsite at Strawberry Music Festival is also the home of the Men's Crisis Center. They are some very funny people and a campsite jam with Ron with usually end up with some great Broadway Musical show tune sing-alongs. rr |
Subject: RE: Banjo Pickers, Is this you?? From: ex-pat Date: 30 Jun 03 - 11:24 PM Thanks Steve, I play banjo AND button accordion. It's us that's alright. Them other folks that play boring instruments, they are the ones with the problems. I play guitar for twenty minutes and I'm bored. I do know a dulcimer player, (he is in our band!) now THAT'S scary. |
