Just had a day with Bragging grandparents-drove me nuts. Do you revel in Grandparenthood?Tell us about your little geniuses & all the cute things they do,
like shaving the cat, burying Grandpa's teeth, peeing on the Reverend. We also want to hear about them when they're older. Bobby's first 711 heist,the hilarious story about Holly when she got caught shoplifting, etc. Got any gems?

Sorry, Bea, no gems! Me gradkids flogged 'em, and me false teeth, glass eye and wooden leg. They also took the tube out of... Aw shucks.. my leg's wet again...

Seiously, I don't think you have a real gripe. I love kids - don't have any of my own that I know of. I also love their doting parents, and even more dotty grandparents. Y'know the nice thing about it?

No grandchildren as my genius Bratling is only 7, but I have 8 neices and nephews living nearby (3 others are in the Antipodes so they don't count). I hate family gatherings because they just turn into 'my child did this, my child does that', particularly from one quarter..... and they produced half of the little b^%%%^ds! The bragging started before the first was even born - 8 week pregnant mother was boasting to friend L about how she was blooming during the pregnancy, and what it was all about and how this would happen and how that would happen and this and that... you get the picture? All this to L who is sitting there, due to give birth to her own any moment. I think the worst moment was when we visited their house for some reason, and saw, mounted, framed and on the mantlepiece, a copy of the ultrasound scan at 12 weeks. (Pause for retching sounds and fetching of bucket).

Of course, we don't do that sort of thing, but if anyone wants to come and see the special prize for academic brilliance that Bratling won from the SATS inspectors, our house, Saturday 19th July, any time after 3.

It's 3 neices in the aunty Podes and they don't count because they never get to family gatherings, neither do I speak to their mother if I can help it.... I hated her when we were children together and I've not seen any cause to change that opinion. She came for a visit about 5 years ago, and my bestest friend came over to meet her. Bestest friend later apologised deeply but said that within 10 minutes of meeting my sister, she wanted to smack her upside the head. And you thought *I* was annoying.

Got no kids, hence no g-kids either, and I too find the doting "My X did Y" a bit much at times.

Never considered it in depth, though, and I can't help wondering: Were not the people who get boring on this subject just as boring (though on different subjects) before the children in question came along?

none of my own - but at last count I'm upwards of 670 or so "borrowed" children - and I'm working on the next generation.

And yes, it's great to be able to say "they're yours, you deal..." - but you know what else? - I enjoy bragging about them as much as those who get to claim them as tax deductions.

No grandchildren for this man, but since JennyO is grandma of a little Max, let me tell a story (no bragging intended) about an older Max, my eldest daughter's godmother's son.
Once she drove him out in a buggy and stopped for a talk with a friend. This lady turned suddenly around to hit somebody she supposed gripping at her backside. When she didn't hit anybody, she looked down and saw little Max in his buggy, fondling her round buttock and smiling at her, mumbling "Mmmmmmm! Mmmmmmm!". Awfully cute, isn't it?.

Hello MMario. I can't put pictures on myself. I have one of those old fashioned steam-driven cameras with film, and no scanner. George has taken some and says he is going to put them up on a website soon.

He also said they want a week by themselves with no visitors, so I am back home, and it is up to him. If nothing comes along in a couple of days, I might have to get him a round tuit and lean on him a bit. He knows I want them.

When I talk about mu Urchins' accomplishments, I get funny looks from my workmates. Like the time one hit himself in the face with an ax. Or how one's making a video in the filming style of Nosferatu. Or how my (then) thirteen year old daughter won her very own real katana (Japanese long sword) in a raffle and how she lovingly polishes it while she watches television. And then there's the unusual stuff they do...

No pictures, since I have to respect my daughter's request that there be no pictures of her children on the 'net. HOWEVER, be it understood to one and all, that MY two grandchildren are the prettiest, smartest, sweetest, lovingest....well, you get the picture.

I love it when Mom comes to my house to pick up #1 after I've been babysitting......"No, Mama, go!"

actually - it is one of the byproducts of a combination of the recent Mudcat Server crash and my being at work, plus my laziness.
