Rumour has it that John Poindexter, idiot among a host (covey?) of idiots, is going to quit. Couldn't happen to a better candidate, except one I can think of......yours, Peter T.

Hmmm. If he isn't going to prison, I almost prefer him where we can keep an eye on him when he comes up with cock-eyed ideas like selling futures in the terrorism market.

Poor Johnnie! He's always been so misunderstood. All he ever wanted to do was help. I'm with Nicole on this one. I'd rather have someone like him snoopin' on me than someone with, ahhh, a real IQ... 'cause he is such a bumbler...

The problem isn't with the puppet used as the front man, like Reagan, Dubya, etc. It's these sleeze balls that cook this stuff up and carry it out.

This is what you get when the capitalist lunatic fringe steals elections folks!

Yeah, Kendall, I know. (sniff) And I miss hi allready. He was like the Lyndon Larouche of the intellegence community. No one took him seriously and that the kinda guy I want peeking though my window at night. I don't want any goose-steppin' John Ashcroft. He's way too serious....

Bobert

BTW, Kendall, according to a gal I met a few weeks back from Maine who was pl;aying at the joint that I was playin' (can't remember her name but it will come to me)... ahhhh, hate to break this to you, but you died a few years back... Sorry to have to break the bad news...

B.....

Poindexter is a good example of the truism that no one thinks of themselves as a bad person. Here he was found guilty of perjuring himself in the Iran/Contra affair, being released only on a bare technicality, and then he has the chutzpah to go back into government. But his spots didn't change- he's still obviously as over the top as ever. I'm just glad -very glad - that it was he who came up with the harebrained idea of a Death and Destruction Futures. (Can you imagine!!)

I suspect he will now go into comfortable retirement and someday recount his exploits to his grandchildren. But I don't care- as long as he is securely out of 'public' service.

He will undoubtably surface again. He is like the Spanish Inquisition. No one ever expects the Spanish Inquisition.

Unfortunately, DARPA is being tarred by this thing also. DARPA has a long and useful (as well as interesting) history.

Let's not celebrate too quickly. I celebrated when Ashcroft lost the Missouri senate race to his deceased opponent. People like that seem to pop up somewhere else. Remember "You won't have Dick Nixon to kick around any more."?

I agree David, that the celebration may be premature. Today's Washington Post and NYT's articles said he would resign "sometime soon".

Since when does someone who is being forced out, not leave "yet"? I always thought when you were forced to resign under scandalous circumstances, you pretty much were out of the office by the end of the week. Well, story broke Monday, it's Friday, and no one in the Bush administration has condemned Poindexter, and said he has to go. Condi Rice still has her job, despite the WMD debacle and the 16 words thing...

I don't believe Poindexter is going anywhere, despite Republican demands from both the Senate and the House leadership that he be fired.

Does the Committee to Re-Select really believe none of this will come up next year? Or do you suppose that if the polls show a landslide for the Dem against Bush, that they'll just suspend the elections for "national security" reasons?

Kendall-

Glad to hear you're still alive and kicking. We're still looking forward to singing with you 9/13 at the Chocolate Church benefit concert.

Cheerily,
Charley Noble
