Subject: BS: The Archers UK Soap From: John MacKenzie Date: 15 Aug 03 - 02:31 PM As a means of giving my age away, I will admit to having listened to The Archers almost from the beginning. However at this moment in time I am totally pissed off with this programme. Why are nearly all the male characters wimps and/or pratts? Or jokes!! Why does nothing good ever happen to the Grundys? Why do they drag obvious storylines out for months? What does it have to do with its' tag line "An everyday story of country folk"? It is almost totally irrelevant to todays farming and farmers. Insofar as it reflects any part of a farmers existance, that existance is relevant only to English farmers, and bears little or no relation to the life of a farmer in Scotland, or the north of England. I know that time moves on etc., but this programme is so far outside its' remit that it is in danger of becoming totalty irrelevant. Giok |

Subject: RE: BS: The Archers UK Soap From: Shelley C Date: 16 Aug 03 - 11:12 AM No, its the new vicar's daughter who's been abusing with the horses. It's all to do with the fact that she hasn't got a mother. Or something. |
Subject: RE: BS: The Archers UK Soap From: Gervase Date: 17 Aug 03 - 07:05 AM Nah, it's wee Damien, St Shula's dysfunctional son. He's out there in the moonlight. slashing the horses. |

Subject: RE: BS: The Archers UK Soap From: MBSLynne Date: 04 Sep 03 - 04:40 PM Well I'm Brian Aldridge too. Perhaps because we're both Scorpios! Damn, I got hooked on the quizzes for ages. Giok, we all go through these phases of denial aboute the Archers. I was off it for a good couple of years, but I drifted back. Now I can't wait until tomorrow evening when we will hear the horrible ----- revealed! I found out who it is by mistake! |
Subject: RE: BS: The Archers UK Soap From: GUEST,Peter from Essex Date: 04 Sep 03 - 04:43 PM "Its You!" and we get the pain old tum-ti-tum music. What happened to the dum-dum-dum-dum-dum-DUM for the dramatic endings? I think the slasher is Foursquare |

Subject: RE: BS: The Archers UK Soap From: Keith A of Hertford Date: 05 Sep 03 - 03:01 AM Walter can't be the slasher, he's been dead too long. Greg's brat has gone home so not her. If it's Robert Snell, who could blame him? |
Subject: RE: BS: The Archers UK Soap From: Steve Parkes Date: 05 Sep 03 - 04:01 AM I reckon Matt Crawford and his cronies have been holding Black Magic rites, summoning the Powers of Darkness to drive the Good Fol of Ambridge out of the village so Borchester Land can redevelop it all. I think they've raised the 19th century Wyrley Slasher of Stffordshire from the dead to walk among the beasts of the village, hamstringing them. Just when you thoght itwas safe to go back in the stable! Steve |
Subject: RE: BS: The Archers UK Soap From: GUEST,Skipjack K8 Date: 05 Sep 03 - 05:26 AM What odds are William Hill giving on the slasher being Marjorie Antrobus?? |

Subject: RE: BS: The Archers UK Soap From: Ralphie Date: 05 Sep 03 - 05:42 AM I just think it's amazing that they all turn up every evening, and every luchtime, to tell us about their lives, and then, get up on a Sunday morning, to do it all again.....in case we missed a bit.... Am I missing something here? |
Subject: RE: BS: The Archers UK Soap From: Ralphie Date: 05 Sep 03 - 05:43 AM ....You mean....It's not real??? |
Subject: RE: BS: The Archers UK Soap From: Steve Parkes Date: 05 Sep 03 - 08:19 AM Of course it's real, Ralphie! Only Countryfile is made-up. Steve |
Subject: RE: BS: The Archers UK Soap From: sian, west wales Date: 05 Sep 03 - 08:49 AM OK - so the closing line is, "Oh my God. It's YOU!" Who, then? I'm fairly new to The Archers but I thought Ed's ratty friend whassisname said that it was Ed what waz doin' the slashin'. Last call for bets ... sian |

Subject: RE: BS: The Archers UK Soap From: GUEST,Skipjack Date: 05 Sep 03 - 11:30 AM It's the old Ketamine getting to him, taking revenge on the closest thing to nasty Leo for ruining his life? |

Subject: RE: BS: The Archers UK Soap From: John MacKenzie Date: 06 Sep 03 - 07:05 AM It wasn't Clive wot dun it! Giok |
Subject: RE: BS: The Archers UK Soap From: MBSLynne Date: 06 Sep 03 - 11:52 AM What other reason is there for wandering around the countryside at night carrying a knife and with your clothes all covered in blood!!! If Clive didn't do it, what had he been doing?? |
Subject: RE: BS: The Archers UK Soap From: Keith A of Hertford Date: 07 Sep 03 - 06:42 AM It's just circumstantial. |
Subject: RE: BS: The Archers UK Soap From: Skipjack K8 Date: 07 Sep 03 - 09:02 AM Ah well, Clive met up with Leo in chokey, and Leo has promised Clive a ficticious fortune if Clive can ruin nasty Alistair, who, after all, ran off with their business after Leo had been caught doing a line or two of poets Persil. Personally, I never forgave Alistair for executing Doctor Richard, who was the only one who really made Saint Shula wriggle. |
Subject: RE: BS: The Archers UK Soap From: sian, west wales Date: 07 Sep 03 - 10:21 AM Yeh - but Clive obviously didn't know that the farm had changed hands since he's been 'inside' so ... (Don't even really know who Clive is, except for what my neighbour's now told me. He was packed off before I started listening ...) sian |
Subject: RE: BS: The Archers UK Soap From: Steve Parkes Date: 08 Sep 03 - 08:43 AM Clive Horabin (should that ebe "Horrorbin"?) is Susan Carter's ne'er-do-well brother, who disappeared into the murky underworld kens of the Big Smoke (London to the innocent and ignorant). Last time he was around she got six months for sheltering him. This time she should murder hiom and bury his body under the patio. I think The Archers is the only Soap where nobody's done this yet. (They did it for real in Walsall, where I came from!) I still think mytheory is in with a chance; Clive was probably sacrificing chickens or goats (or horses) to Mammon. Steve |
Subject: RE: BS: The Archers UK Soap From: Dave Bryant Date: 08 Sep 03 - 12:26 PM Perhaps Clive likes fresh horsemeat steaks ...or perhaps he's a vampire ! |
Subject: RE: BS: The Archers UK Soap From: vectis Date: 08 Sep 03 - 06:37 PM OHMEGOD I got Eddie too. It's the cider and song questions wat did it. Clive is covering up for the highly disturbed Amy. He's obviously besotted with her. |
Subject: RE: BS: The Archers UK Soap From: GUEST,Phil Archer Date: 09 Sep 03 - 04:30 AM I think it't Linda Snell's Llamas They're having kinky sex & S&M with the horses |
Subject: RE: BS: The Archers UK Soap From: Mr Red Date: 09 Sep 03 - 05:02 PM Sorry to introduce a note of FOLK into all this but they are talking of another Barn Dance - as if they actually know the difference between E-ceilidh (English Ceildh) C&W. Not that I listen of course but the on/off switch is too far away while I am happytapping. FWIW I did listen to Charles Collingwood 2night at 6=30. Didn't everyone? |
Subject: RE: BS: The Archers UK Soap From: Steve Parkes Date: 10 Sep 03 - 04:02 AM The next to come in is Charles Collingwood, He's a dirty old man and they bay for his blood ... Not Charles himself, of course, but his character. No, I missed him. What was it about? Steve |
Subject: RE: BS: The Archers UK Soap From: John MacKenzie Date: 10 Sep 03 - 04:08 AM A little programme called With great Pleasure, on Radio4, in which an old or favoured actor is allowed to reminisce about his or her life and loves. Sometimes a boring programme, sometimes an uproarious romp. Charles fell somewhere between the two. Giok |
Subject: RE: BS: The Archers UK Soap From: Steve Parkes Date: 10 Sep 03 - 05:13 AM Ah yes, I've heard some good ones. Saw him on This is your life though, and actually saw him act on a tv drama a while back. Not to mention Noel's House Party ... in fact, I wish I hadn't. Steve |
Subject: RE: BS: The Archers UK Soap From: Keith A of Hertford Date: 29 Sep 05 - 06:36 AM Eddy's 21st already. I know its not real, but I remember him being born. Andnow poor Clarie, who has already suffered more hardships than anyone should, will see her family torn appart. Will there be a fight to the death by the bridge tonight? Oh no! |
