Subject: Tune Req: Seeking ABC for five tunes
From: NightWing
Date: 19 Sep 03 - 05:01 PM

I'm looking for ABC (or a MIDI I can change into ABC) for five different tunes. 'D'rather not re-invent the wheel if anybody else already has them, but I'll do them by ear if I can't find them.

I'm Looking Over A Four-Leaf Clover

Tah-Rah-Rah-Boom-Di-Ay

Where, Oh Where Are You Tonight? (from the television show "Hee-Haw")

Theme Song from "The Mary Tyler Moore Show"

Swing On A Star (Swinging On A Star)

Yes, I did look in the DigiTrad. Managed to find several of the other songs I needed. Of the missing five, the only one I found (with a tune) was Tah-Rah-Rah-Boom-Di-Ay, but the MIDI file couldn't be found.

Thanks in advance!

BB,

NightWing

I'm Looking Over A Four-Leaf Clover
Words by Mort Dixon, music by Harry Woods
Written in 1927 - popularized in 1948 by Art Mooney

I'm looking over a four-leaf clover
That I overlooked before.
One leaf is sunshine, the second is rain,
Third is the roses that grow in the lane.
No need explaining, the one remaining
Is somebody I adore.
I'm looking over a four-leaf clover
That I overlooked before

Mary Tyler Moore Theme song lyrics

(1st season)

How will you make it on your own?
This world is awfully big, girl this time you're all alone
But it's time you started living
It's time you let someone else do some giving

Love is all around, no need to waste it
You can have a town, why don't you take it
You might just make it after all
You might just make it after all

(2nd-6th seasons)

Who can turn the world on with her smile?
Who can take a nothing day, and suddenly make it all seem worthwhile?
Well it's you girl, and you should know it
With each glance and every little movement you show it

Love is all around, no need to waste it
You can have a town, why don't you take it
You're gonna make it after all
You're gonna make it after all

Haven't found a MIDI, but a Wav File is at http://www.timvp.com/heehaw.html

A HEE HAW CLASSIC DITTY

Where oh where are you tonight?
Why did you leave me here all alone?
I searched the world over and I thought I'd found true love.
But you met another and PTHHP! you was gone.

You took out your false teeth, your wig and your glasses.
You were just scattered all over the place.
I wanted to kiss you and hug you so tightly.
I guess that I would have if I'd found your face.

I went to your house at three in the morning.
You had all them curlers and junk in your hair
.You would not have scared me and I'd not have run so,
If you had not looked like you'd wrestled a bear.

I told you my darlin' you looked like a gopher.
Made you so mad, you haven't spoke since.
But tell me my darling if you ain't got buck teeth.
How do you eat apples through a picket fence?

When I picked you up for our date last weekend.
You looked so pretty in your satin and lace.
But when I bent over and started to kiss you,
you popped a pimple all over my face!

"PFFFFFT! You Were Gone" was an actual gospel tune before Hee-Haw got ahold of it. I've seen the gospel tune in sheet music somewhere years ago—old enough to predate Hee-Haw—but right now I can't remember where.

I'd love to find the source of that, Mark. Anything you can find or remember might give someone else the hint to find it.

This is the Version My dad use to sing to me when I was growing up:
("Phift" - make a short fart sound)

(Chorus)
Where oh where are you tonight
Why did you leave me here all alone
I've Searched the world over and thought I found True Love
You met another and "phift" you were gone

(Verse)
You had six kids and I had eleven
We had four more and they grew like flowers
Oh won't you come home and help me my Darlin'
cause your kids and my kids are beating up ours

(Repeat Chorus)

(Verse)
You took off you hair, your leg and eyeglasses
you should've seen the look on my face
I wanted to kiss, I wanted to hug you
But you were scattered all over the place

(Repeat Chorus)

(Verse)
The noises you made at our dinner table
Your habits my dear are surely absurd
Oh how many times do I have to tell you
that soup is a dish to be seen and not heard

(Repeat Chorus)2X
