In no circumstances succumb to this floozy's blandishments, Brian. There's nobody else interesting living in Ambridge at present, the place would be just too boring without you.

I think he'll go, and leave Ambridge to the crooks and wimps that make up the remainder of the male population of that real village.

He can go, as long as they start a new programme called The Aldridges as well so we can keep track of his German doings, the frauleins wont know what's hit'em.

No, no, no, don't go... eeek it out a bit longer. The program will be all 'a weepin' and a wailin' and a gnashing of teeth'. Perhaps they're building up to a Christmas explosion, like in 'East Enders' many years ago with Dirty Den. I s'pose we could call him 'Grubby Brian'.

He's not grubby, Sal, just a typical man: built with only enough blood supply to operate either his brain or another part of his anatomy at any one time...

Jenny was being so nice to him - 'take your wet clothes off, I'll run you a nice hot bath, I'll just get you some clean towels, you put your feet up....' She knows! Then just when he's made his mind up to stay 'cos it's more comfy, S has gone to Germany, wham! She'll hit him with all she's got. And he'll be right up the village pump without a bucket. Whimp! Bring back Nelson - a real good baddie.

The Archers is the longest-running 'soap' in the UK, heard every day on BBC Radio 4 -"an everyday tale of country folk".
Find out all you want (and more!), read synopses and listen to current and archived episodes : The Archers

Walter Gabriel was one of the original characters, who everyone had heard of.

Brian Aldridge (married to Jennifer, née Archer) is a local landowner and a bit of a cad, who has had an affair with the lovely Siobhan Hathaway. She left and had their baby back in Ireland, but has now returned and is tempting Brian to run away with her.

I wouldn't be surprised if Brian did go, he's been on the programme for an awfully long time. Also if you're going to go go, it may as well be while you're on top. Of whom doesn't really matter.

Do it, Brian! Do it!

She just one of them Irish girls, and you know what they're like. And you need to toss over the traces for a bit of fun, you know. Don't want to get stale and go out like old Walter or whateverhisnamewas. Being too staid and sober isn't healthy.'

Do it, Brian! Do it!

Two small points here:

1) It's not a 'soap', it's an everday story of country folk ;-)
2) How the hell do you get words to do all those flashy things, kp?

to make the words scroll, use this tag;
<marquee>words scrolling</marquee>words scrolling
<blink>words blinking</blink>Words Blinking

Blink only works in netscape and camino though.
Maybe others but those are the two I know of.

I did a little help guide for some of the more basic html tags.
Click here to go to it...
I hope that it helps!
Be warned there is a music tag in there, so it may take time to load the music. Turn the volume down if you're at work, it's me on the pipes!

One other thing, only the font tags work, pictures and sound tags don't in mudcat. I've tried! lol

Nigel wants to build a cruck barn. His best bet is pop out to tonight, dig the holes for the footings and pour in the concrete in the dark. And if somebody who shall be nameless should just happen to have fallen in the hole before the concrete goes in....well, it'll be dark won't it?

Will Brian pop his clogs? Of course not! It would mean his real-lfe wife (Shula) would be the bread winner in the Collingwood household and I am sure he is far too much of an MCP to allow that to happen!

You do realise, don't you, that just as "Ambridge" is a metaphor for Merrie England so the dreadful Siobhan is a metaphor for the IRA and suchlike, determined to wreak havoc and cause mayhem in this rural paradise? The unspeakable Elizabeth represents those wets who are unable or unwilling to stand up to these appalling outsiders.

I've never forgiven The Archers for replacing Dick Barton- Special Agent ("Over here, Jock, come on, Snowy!") in the BBC wireless schedules, though Herself is a fan. I would like to see "Brian" killed off as I am a great fan of actor Charles Collingwood and would like to see him do a tv series of Simon Brett's Charles Paris whodunnits (the hero is an unusccessful actor who solves murders in a series of witty books.

I know this is a little side shift, but you know the court case is over for David and he's been fined £6oo for shooting a badger? Well Bert has now moved into the bungalow that David and Ruth used to live in, and he's very a keen gardener isn't he. Will he dig up the other badger David buried there a couple of years ago? Ah ha, not a first offence was it! Bit trigger happy is our young Archer.
