Subject: Lyr Add: (ALL I WANT FOR...IS) MY TWO FRONT TEETH From: Jim Dixon Date: 02 Nov 03 - 06:19 PM (ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS) MY TWO FRONT TEETH (Don Gardner, 1946.) Everybody stops and stares at me. These two teeth are gone as you can see. I don't know just who to blame for this catastrophe! But my one wish on Christmas Eve is as plain as it can be! CHORUS: All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth, My two front teeth, see my two front teeth! Gee, if I could only have my two front teeth, Then I could with you "Merry Christmas." It seems so long since I could say, "Sister Susie sitting on a thistle." Gosh, oh gee, how happy I'd be If I could only whistle! (Th-h-h-h-h!) CHORUS. [Alternative version of last 2 lines:] Ev'ry time I try to speak, All I do is whistle. (S-s-s-s-s!) [Recorded by the Andrews Sisters, The Chipmunks, Nat King Cole, Spike Jones and His City Slickers, and many others.] |
Subject: Lyr Add:ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS MY UPPER PLATE From: Jim Dixon Date: 02 Nov 03 - 06:20 PM ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS MY UPPER PLATE (As sung by Homer and Jethro) All I want for Christmas is my upper plate. I'm losin' weight without my plate. I got my lowers but I need my upper plate, So I can eat my Christmas turkey. I left 'em in a glass o' water by my side. When I awoke, I nearly died. I hope the guy who took 'em will be satisfied, 'Cause I can't eat my Christmas turkey. I used to eat corn on the cob And little bitty pickled green tomaters, But Christmas Day, all I can say Is "Pass the mashed potaters." Won't somebody tell me what I'm gonna do? My poor old gums are black and blue. The turkey's on the table but I just can't chew, And this ain't a very merry Christmas. Christmas candy shore is hard. I can't even chew it just a little. But my fav'rite one of all Is good ol' peanut brutal. [Spoken:] --Homer, that's "brittle." --Buddy, without my upper plate, it is "ba-rutal." So if you got an extry set that's laid away, I'll borrow them for Christmas day. You can send 'em to me care of RCA, And I will have a merry Christmas. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Add: (All I Want for...Is) My Two Front Teeth From: Jim Dixon Date: 02 Nov 03 - 06:47 PM Oops! I forgot to credit The Record Lady's All-Time Country Favorites, Country Christmas Page, for the sound file from which I made the Homer & Jethro transcription. Lyrics to the original version are available at several places on the Internet. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Add: (All I Want for...Is) My Two Front Teeth From: Jim Dixon Date: 29 Jun 11 - 06:08 PM Stan Boreson also recorded ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS (IS MY UPPER PLATE). It is track #02 on his album "I Yust Go Nuts at Christmas." You can hear his version at YouTube. The lyrics are nearly the same as those recorded by Homer & Jethro, allowing for the fact that he sings in a Scandinavian accent. Also, instead of "You can send 'em to me care of RCA" he sings "You can send 'em to me and I'll be OK." |
Subject: RE: Lyr Add: (All I Want for...Is) My Two Front Teeth From: katlaughing Date: 29 Jun 11 - 06:17 PM I knocked out my two top front teeth when I was just a baby trying to walk and fell against the piano leg, from what I understand. Didn't get my adult teeth up there until second grade, so...I heard this song a lot as I was growing up! Thanks for posting the lyrics. kat |
