Subject: How are you feeling Liz the Sqeak From: Dave Bryant Date: 30 Jan 04 - 06:48 AM Since I only heard about your problems via Kendall's thread, I thought that you could do with a thread of your own. I hope that you're feeling better after having your heart inspected via your femoral artery. Even I have never thought of that as method of getting inside your bra ! Best wishes from Linda and myself and we hope that you're back to normal very soon - actually after saying that - have they managed to find what it is that SQUEAKS . . . . . |

Subject: RE: How are you feeling Liz the Sqeak From: Dave Bryant Date: 30 Jan 04 - 10:08 AM You don't know what you're missing Geoff. BTW - the main reason that I didn't make this thread BS in the first place, was that Kendall's one wasn't. I think there's some favouritsm being shown here :-) |
Subject: RE: How are you feeling Liz the Sqeak From: Steve Parkes Date: 30 Jan 04 - 10:19 AM Bad luck, Liz -- hope things improve now. My sis-in-law had the same thing done last month. Whatever's causing her squeak, it wasn't her heart. Steve |

Subject: RE: How are you feeling Liz the Sqeak From: Liz the Squeak Date: 30 Jan 04 - 07:43 PM Gorsh chaps... I'm shaved, bruised and afraid to sneeze, but otherwise OK. I feel like I've been playing rugby and I was the ball! The good news is, there was a heart there, it isn't made of stone (enough jokes about the Inland Revenue already) but it does have an extra electrical impulse which is tripping too often. That's what's been giving me the palpitations, chest pains etc. See I told you I was ill! They stuck 3 electrodes up my femoral vein and stimulated my heartbeats whilst watching on an Xray. The femoral vein is the one that goes through the groin, hence the jokes about Brazilians and alternatively coloured cats. It's not a nice procedure, it's painful and very very scary to have someone else controlling your heartbeats from a room 15 ft away whilst you lie open to the elements on a very narrow table, watching the monitor hit 220 beats per minute then drop to 45. The bad news is, I have to have a similar procedure in the future. Called an ablation, it's where they burn out the extra impulse, returning the heartbeat to normal. Nowhere near as drastic as Kendall's bypasses but still enough to freak out your average person with very low pain threshold and a tendency toward hypochondria. Thanks for all your good wishes, I'll be bouncing around good as new in a couple of months (when they get around to doing the other procedure) and although Feb is looking decidedly iffy, I will make damn sure I'm well enough for the May gathering. Take care all. LTS |

Subject: RE: How are you feeling Liz the Sqeak From: Liz the Squeak Date: 31 Jan 04 - 06:32 AM Oh and Manitas' reaction to his instruction above was a short exhalation of breath and a look that said 'you are kidding me, I know where it's been!' All I have to do now is get the sticky plaster off without opening the wound again and train the cats to levitate across my lap. LTS |

I shan't come round (I've got a yucky chest infection and the last thing you need is something to make you cough......) but give us a tinkle if you need entertaining. Lots of cuddles around the shoulders, Love Penny (P.S. Manitas, you shold probably not let her hear anything by Les Barker...................) |

Subject: RE: How are you feeling Liz the Sqeak From: Liz the Squeak Date: 01 Feb 04 - 07:27 AM Whilst languishing in hospital after having a cesaerean to drag Limpit into the world, Manitas bought me in my walkman and a present of Les Barkers 'A Cardi and Bloke'..... that man has no sense of occasion! Subject: RE: How are you feeling Liz the Sqeak From: Dead Horse Date: 01 Feb 04 - 07:04 PM I do believe that Mr Gates's outfit are working on a sort of pace-maker thingy that sounds just up your street(so to speak). Subject: RE: How are you feeling Liz the Sqeak From: Dave Bryant Date: 02 Feb 04 - 05:28 AM If you've ever heard Liz on a Les Barker binge, you'd feel very sorry for the rest of the hospital ward - they probably had to move her to a soundproof isolation unit ! Poor Phoebe (Limpit), it must have been very traumatic hearing the famous squeak shortly after birth. |
Subject: RE: How are you feeling Liz the Sqeak From: Liz the Squeak Date: 02 Feb 04 - 10:54 AM Someone has lent me 'Guide Cats for the Blind' and guess what..... It's got 'Deja Vu' on it, and it's the recording from Towersey 1995 - the year I was there and pregnant with above mentioned Limpit. Someone has done some tweaking, but if you turn the treble up really high...... yes, you can't get rid of me! LTS |

Subject: RE: How are you feeling Liz the Sqeak From: Carly Date: 02 Feb 04 - 05:00 PM Liz, I send sympathy, as I have lain on a table watching on a screen as doctors threaded tubing up a vein to my heart. In my case it was to install a special IV line. A weird sensation, to watch your own heart! I hope all goes well- you will be in my thoughts. |
Subject: RE: How are you feeling Liz the Sqeak From: Herga Kitty Date: 02 Feb 04 - 05:29 PM Liz Your post about Guide Cats has reminded me of the Saffron Walden festival, when Les was appearing upstairs in the Scrivener room, and you were squeaking at the back, and a middle aged but not so old member of the audience seemed to be about to expire towards the front... it was great fun! Kitty PS I'm just trying to remember whether that was the year that Damien Barber came down to Saffron with the Wilsons.... |
Subject: RE: How are you feeling Liz the Sqeak From: Liz the Squeak Date: 02 Feb 04 - 06:35 PM Ah yes, I remember that well... the singaround in the bar after hours and taking a very tired Damien home to Stratford station in our car on the Sunday.... it was the penultimate Saffron if that helps..... Subject: RE: How are you feeling Liz the Sqeak From: Stilly River Sage Date: 02 Feb 04 - 10:12 PM Liz, I hope you're feeling better soon. Keep an eye on that bruise, and if it keeps growing tell someone. They're not always supposed to do that. Meanwhile, you can do some virtual swinging from the rooftops if the Mudcat Tavern opens for business any time soon. Kendall can join you (and this can turn into something that resembles a Twilight Zone episode). SRS |

Subject: RE: How are you feeling Liz the Sqeak From: manitas_at_work Date: 03 Feb 04 - 08:23 AM Yes, I could have got her flowers and chocolates, but her friends at church had already loaded her up with about 3 months supply of chocolates and flowers die. A cd or a book keeps a patient amused and you can use it again later unlike chocolates. |
Subject: RE: How are you feeling Liz the Sqeak From: SueB Date: 03 Feb 04 - 11:41 AM Liz, you have my sympathy and my admiration - alarming symptoms, alarming procedure, and you appear to be taking it all in stride. I'm so glad they can perform the ablation and take care of the trouble for once and all. A friend of mine recently went through part one as you described it above, and it was discovered that they wouldn't be able to do part two, for some reason, and instead she is on expensive medication which doesn't make her feel all that great and does not completely control the arhythmia. So I'm very glad yours is a problem that can be fixed, and I'm looking forward to hearing that you're all better! |
Subject: RE: How are you feeling Liz the Sqeak From: Liz the Squeak Date: 03 Feb 04 - 12:15 PM Yeah, but you have to keep finding space to put the CDs whereas, I ALWAYS have space available for more chocolate! LTS |

Subject: RE: How are you feeling Liz the Sqeak From: lady penelope Date: 06 Feb 04 - 07:03 PM Jaze, if you find a recording of " daschunds with erections can't climb stairs" by Les Barker, yes, you can hear her quite easily.
