I was watching TV with half an ear yesyerday while reading and recovering form the excesses of Saturday (don't ask!) when one of them there bargain hunt type programs came on. (UK cable TV that is). It wasn't David Dickenson but one where peopel gather up their unwanted stuff and try to meet a target by selling it at a car boot sale.

Oh look, thinks I. One of the couples competing were folk musicians. Him playing melodeon and her playing hammer dulcimer. Intersting I thought and went back to my book. Then blow me! The next couple were also folkies. Him playing guitar and her the fiddle! Didn't catch their names at all. Did anyone else see it?

There was one good bit later on when they all got together in a scratch band with other car booters doing a country dance:-)

Anyone out thee in TV land fancy launching a new reality TV in which folkies get their gardens done while someone else paints there house? For added interest the folkies cold be taken to the jungle and forced to listen to pop musuc talent shows...

Cheers

DtG

What about a show were for only £500 pounds they just use bit of thrown out junk from your garden shed and turn you into a folk musician.

How about we get a load of banjo players and lock them into a secluded house for 6 weeks.

We wouldn't bother with the voting to evict them, but I guess we'd be inundated with requests for more to join them....

I'll get me coat as well.

It could turn out to be worse than that. I've just received the following. No idea if it's genuine or not, but rdfmedia.com/ is real enough.

"Channel 4 television is looking for interesting families to take part in an award winning documentary series about family life . . .

RDF media, one of the UK's leading television production companies and the producers of documentaries such as Faking it is currently in production for a new series of the multi award winning series Wife Swap. This groundbreaking series gives an insight into the modern family life and the everyday choices we all make as well as our outlook on life.

For the third series we would very much like to feature interesting couples (with children at home) who are involved in the folk music social scene.

We are particularly keen to hear from families who are positive about their lifestyle and how it can be enjoyed by all the family.

If you are curious how others live and would relish a unique once in a lifetime opportunity to experience a different way or outlook on life, we would love to hear from you.

Please contact Carolyn for more information on 020 7013 4552

Or email carolyn.banks@rdfmedia.com

Families need to live in the UK, have children living at home and be up for a challenge."

Could be a wind-up for all I know; there's been a fair bit of swapping in one direction or another over the years in the "folk music scene" round where I live. The ghastly thought occurs to me that it could be completely genuine.

Is not a wind up Malcolm, I posted a thread for it separately.

I checked first.........and I was trying to get a crate of Guinness for the missus..........and it is not necessary to be married.
