I am looking for the lyrics to Carter's Blues recorded by the Carter Family between 1929 - 1938
Seems I can't find them on the lyrics list.

I first heard Carter's Blues in the early 60s by Kathy and Carol. In my mind it is still the best version.

I have it recorded 11/24/1929 in Atlanta, GA.

I am learning this song from a recording I have of Beverly Smith & Carl Jones who were teaching at Old-time Camp in Grotton Connecticut.

Meade points out in his discography that this lyric is related to 'Love Has Brought Me to Despair' [Laws P25] which can be found in the DT HERE. I have posted another version, originating from the singing of Berzilla Wallin of NC, in this thread CLICK.

Thanks for the verse. And, I saw Doug Clegg in San Diego in
February. He is alive and well and living in California --
Santa Barbara, I think, and sometimes Baja.
