BS: Help needed from N Cornwall/N Devon

I have put this into BS because it's not music, but it certainly is not BS. We have to relocate from London to anywhere in the N Cornwall area preferably Bude, Kilkhampton or surrounding area by the 7th of May. If there is anyone out there who could help with any info as regards to renting a property or any opportunities of work especially as an electricians mate, Hubby just finishing 2nd year of City & Guilds Electrical Installation I would be very grateful. I have been trawling the net to no avail so far.

We will be coming to Cornwall next week 6th March onwards for a week to do some scouting around so if any help could coincide with that it would be really useful. You never know something might come from this It's the only site I know where miraculously help always seems to come from somewhere with all kinds of issues.

Well, since I am cross the pond, I don't have any first-hand knowledge of this, but a quick check on google found a couple of resources which might be helpful: housing info and ejobsdirectory.

Thanks Kat have been on loadsa sites for both jobs and housing no luck so far but obviously will keep trying. I have since realised that if anyone actually comes up with anything while I am in Cornwall you won't be able to contact me. The only way to sort things out is to go there.
If you don't have a property to sell, you will have no problems, and property prices will be a lot cheaper.
We moved from Paignton in Devon, up to Lincolnshire. I got nowhere until we went up there. rented for 6 months and had time to look around.

Yep I agree villain, which is exactly why we are going next week. I don't know about property rental being cheaper there though from what I have seen so far.
Relocation-Relocation where are these TV people when you really need them to help out. :))

Thanks Bruce. Just got back today, No luck so far, but I am waiting to hear on a couple.
Went to Bideford Folk Club in N Devon last night it was brilliant a really great bunch of people and really friendly so I know that when I finally get to the area we will have a good club to go along to. I know there were a couple of Catters there so if your reading this thanks for the hospitality.

Debs....when you do get there and find a place to stay, could you make sure the guest room has a nice view of the sea.....and RC likes to hear Seagulls in the morning........failing that please make sure the camber on the road outside is at a suitably precititous angle cos the bed in the Van wont be level after all this time if the road is flat!! *BG* The VERY best of luck on your hunting. You may recall I pm'd you a couple of times last year, I am from just outside Bude, I could send you the local paper property pages if you like just pm me your address, and it may help your other half find work, and a property to rent, the one opposite us, which was for sale, which I told you about last year, is under offer at the moment, but there are a variety of properties in the area, both for sale and for rent. You can always come down for a weekend and stay with us, if you need somewhere to stay, though I know you have some family local, thats if you can put up with a stroppy teenager, a crazy staffy and 2 eccentric folkies!

Oh thanks Lucy thats really sweet of you. We saw a couple of places last week that we are waiting to hear from 1 in Tregole just outside Bude and 1 in Landcross just outside Bideford. If you could send the local papers that would be great I will PM my address. We went to the Bideford folk club that you recommended last week it was a really nice evening and you were mentioned as I said that you had told me about the club.

I can't really help with accomodation, but if you get desperate I've got quite a nice 4-person shelter on the banks of the Fowey, open fire, very peaceful and, um, airy!

I'm in Bodmin, about 15 or 20 miles inland from the N coast, more like 35 ish from Bude, so a fair old way from the area you're thinking to move to.

But like I said, you need any help I'd be glad to. And I'm sure you wont regret it if you do move down.

Thanks Damon, 35 miles there is nothing it would only take half hour. Trying to drive 35 miles in London would take at least 2 hrs.
