Subject: RE: Missing Mudcatters: Where Are They? From: wysiwyg Date: 20 Jun 04 - 11:29 AM I always appreciate when CatterPals let me know they are going to be away. :~) One alternative-- In the Red Cross, one of my jobs was to process emergency communications for families of members of the Armed Services. One category of these command-authorized messages was "Health & Welfare." The criteria was, has the service member NOT been in communication within their regular pattern of frequency? Here's a message like the commanding officer would get for one of those: "Service mother Lulabelle Whatisfolk requests H&W for serviceperson PFC Junior Whatisfolk SSN 000-00-0000. Service mother is concerned, and states serviceperson normally calls home monthly. Service mother reports last contact was March of this year. Service mother can be reached by return Red Cross message and by phone 000-555-3857." The CO receiving this will do two things-- 1. Send for that person to personally deliver THIS message: "PFC Whatisfolk! In WHY did you fail to call your MOTHER!" 2. Depending on Junior's answer, message back the status of the service member, such as: "CO of serviceperson Junior Whatisfolk reports that serviceperson is alive and on active duty. CO has authorized phone home." OR If Junior tells the CO how COME s/he ain't been phoning home (sometimes Junior left home to get AWAY from bad people), then all they get might be, "CO reports that service member is alive and is on active duty." Cuz in the military, it's generally expected that only an idiot fails to tend the homefire, and "Sir, I need to call home, please" is almost always honored, no questions asked, unless the unit is under fire or unless the serviceperson's morale is better served by severing ties. ~Susan |

Subject: RE: Missing Mudcatters: Where Are They? From: Bert Date: 27 Jun 04 - 01:43 PM Hey Guys! I'm Baaaaack!!! Thanks Mortidarlin' and Katmeluv for missing me. (and sod the rest of you) *GRIN* It's a long dull story so I won't bore you with it. It was heartbreaking to come back and find that Rick had gone. That bugger had promised to give me a guitar lesson. I hope, when my turn comes, that I go to the same place where he's gone to, 'cos when I get there I'm gonna hold him to that. Maybe it'll turn out to be a harp lesson though or even an accordion lesson but he just ain't gonna get away with leaving us like that. Love to you all. Bert. |

Hey Amos, I sure will. I sing that song all the time and ALWAYS give you credit. The real bummer is that it gets requested a lot more than MY songs. Hi WYSYLUV. Ill send you a PM and try to catch up a bit. SPAW Y'ol bugger how in the hell are you? Missed you too y'ole fart. Bert. |

So far, I am batting zero. Normally, I'd just send them off to Masato, who could quickly give six variants of the song. Come home, Masato! Puhleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze? Jerry |

Musicians still visit here but may not contribute because they are too busy. |

Subject: RE: Missing Mudcatters: Where Are They? From: GUEST,Scorned and Rejected Uncle Jaque in Maine... Date: 12 Oct 04 - 01:43 PM Well Ahoy again! I'ts been a while apparently before recently drifting back in to post a couple of music related thingies of late. Now I can't log in to get re-cookied, as the 'Cat won't accept the username and PW I'd used for years, and when I give it my E-dress to send a new PW that might actually allow me back on board, said PW never seems to materialize. I'll have to make sure my SPAM filter isn't erroniously blocking it I guess. Have sort of been out of the music circut lately for a number of reasons, but I miss it and look forward to getting back. Was getting right into it a few years back, and then came 9/11/01, at which time it seemed appropriate to revisit an old hobby that at the time had been collecting dust in the cellar. So I have renewed my Membership in a local Fish & Game Club, and try to visit the rifle range fairly regularly so as to keep up certain tactical survival skills, shall we say. Probably not a really popular avocation or topic in here, so we'll let it go at that. But I've been lurking and contributing to other forums relating to that and other areas of interest more than hanging around here as I was once wont to do. But the banjo is not completely unstrung; I continue to collect and noodle around with 19th Century music. most of what I can get my hands on tends to be Hymns and Gospel Music, but that's OK by me. We see that a few veteran "Catters lament that no one seems to have missed 'em; in my case, I would rather expect that my absence would have been more cause for celebration than regret! - so I'll try to tread a little more lightly than I may have in the past, when I was know to fling a political skunk into the locker room when things seemed a bit boringly pacific around here. Sort of like Church, in which I used to be active - as long as allowed back in as a "Guest" now and then, I'll poke me beak in for a peek & see what's up with the old Mudcat on occasion. Although I seem to be no longer deemed worthy of "cookies", it appears that I have yet to be banished entirely. UJ |
Subject: RE: Missing Mudcatters: Where Are They? From: Jeri Date: 12 Oct 04 - 02:02 PM Unc, you're still a member. Is it possible you've got the password wrong, or just a bit off? Like captial letters when there shouldn't be, or no capitals when there should? The automatic e-mail you're supposed to get from the log-in page which sends you your EXISTING user name and password hasn't worked for a couple of years and I'm not sure why it's still there. Post in the Help Forum and Joe Offer can sen you an e-mail to get you sorted. |
Subject: RE: Missing Mudcatters: Where Are They? From: Cruiser Date: 23 Jul 06 - 04:44 PM While pondering the vagaries of life on a hot summer's day in Arizona (was 116 degrees F here yesterday) I saw this thread and revived it since it has been 1.75 years since its initiation. I wondered what has happened to 2 of the prettiest and brightest young women that once posted here and if they have kept up with their music: NicoleC and Barky. Oh, I would also like to know what has happened to other people, including some of the older and not-so-pretty lost Mudcatters too. |

Subject: RE: Missing Mudcatters: Where Are They? From: katlaughing Date: 23 Jul 06 - 07:17 PM I just listened to a tape I made off of HearMe, back in the day, ya know, of Spider Tom in Australia. Wow, singing "Down by the sea." If I remember rightly, it was his own song. Sure wish I knew how he was. Would also love to hear from BillytheBus, again, off the coast of NZ. There are many more, I know, but like Skarpi, I can't remember any off the top of my head. A glance at the members' names listed to PM would jog my memory, I know. |

Subject: RE: Missing Mudcatters: Where Are They? From: Matt_R Date: 24 Jul 06 - 11:25 AM Spider Tom was awesome. I think he must have been like a government agent or something, the way he and his family vanished into thin air. |
