I believe we have learned a valuable lesson and I wonder if anyone else has experienced this. We trusted a couple and bought a truck from them. Not knowing that once the title says Salvage on it , that cannot be removed from the title. We are okay with the truck , but would love to hear if anyone else has ever bought a salvage vehicle.
Thanks from Mary

A friend bought a van from a junkyard and fixed it up. He and his family have been using it for several years now. The inside looks like something out of the 60's.

WHne I was younger my brothers and I bought a 72 (?) montego from a local junk yard, for the ptrincely sum of 50 bucks. Fixed up a bit and it ran for ages, My older brother had it , then my younger borther, than I , them the younger one , then I got i again and When I was done I gave it to a friend who was in desperate need of a car...they drove it 4 or 5 times to the catskills from the Buffalo,NY area and they had to finally get rid of it after running over a deer and bending the frame.
I think all told we got some where over 200,000 miles out of it.

My Husband and I just bought a van from the junk yard, I don't think it has salvage on the title though. We're pretty happy with it, paid 350 for a van that would normally run around a thousand if we bought it from a dealer.

The main things to worry about for a salvage vehicle is a cracked block, bent frame, or torn up differential. Almost anything else can be fixed or replaced without too much money or time having to be spent. Please ensure you check the exhaust system from manifold to tail pipe. Any leaks in the system and you run the risk of asphyxiating yourselves and your passengers.

Drive safe!
