Subject: BS: Deserving of a medal From: Amergin Date: 21 May 04 - 07:45 PM I just come home from my new job...and find three of our dogs roaming the neighbourhood. Some one had left the gate wide open. I found them all grimy and smelling from rolling around in something dead....and by the smell had been dead for a while....they wouldn't come with me voluntarily unless I asked if they wanted to go bye bye...so i had to gather them up one by one in my car...now my car reaks...and now I washed and scrubbed the dogs in the bathroom risking injury from the stench alone....my nose may never be the same....i think they killed it...they still smell a little...but not nearly as bad as they did...I'm thinking of putting myself in for the Congressional Medal of Honour for my selfless act of heroism... |

Subject: RE: BS: Deserving of a medal From: Bobert Date: 21 May 04 - 08:15 PM Amergin, That's what guns is for, dang it! Awww, jus' funnin'. Back in '70 I was wanderin' 'round the country in an old '49 Ford panel truck, a wife, another hippie and my dog, Wimpy. We was camped some place in Illinois an' Whimpy had an altercation with a danged skunk. Whew.... No, make that pew... And there weren't no water to be had back where we were so, as one who can fully appreciate what you have been thru today, I'll second S-Celtic's nomination, Wear it proudly... Bobert |
Subject: RE: BS: Deserving of a medal From: Rapparee Date: 22 May 04 - 12:23 PM Well, go on ahead, but there ain't no such award as the "Congressional Medal of Honour." There's the "Medal of Honor", but there ain't no "Congressional" in its name. Ain't no "u" either, fer that matter. But you sure do deserve it! Chemical warfare decontamination, no less! |
Subject: RE: BS: Deserving of a medal From: Peace Date: 22 May 04 - 12:32 PM It got the Congressional attached to it in the public imagination because it is awarded on behalf of Congress (representing a grateful nation). |
Subject: RE: BS: Deserving of a medal From: Amos Date: 22 May 04 - 12:36 PM It is popularly called the CMOH because it is a Congressional Medal, one awarded by or for Congress. Congressional being an adjective, just as "coveted" might be in the expression "He was awarded the coveted Purple Heart". A |
Subject: RE: BS: Deserving of a medal From: Uncle_DaveO Date: 23 May 04 - 12:32 PM I know that when I was in the army I never even faintly coveted a Purple Heart! Dave Oesterreich |
Subject: RE: BS: Deserving of a medal From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 23 May 04 - 12:39 PM "My dog's got no nose." "Your dog's got no nose? How does he smell?" "Terrible." |
Subject: RE: BS: Deserving of a medal From: Rapparee Date: 23 May 04 - 02:52 PM By golly, I didn't want a Purple Heart either! What I wanted was the rank of PFC*! *Proud F*ckin' Civilian, for those "not in the know." |
Subject: RE: BS: Deserving of a medal From: Liz the Squeak Date: 24 May 04 - 02:33 PM There is nothing on earth like the smell of wet dog when it's rolled in something horrible. I lived on a farm for a while and the dog got into the newly opened silage pit..... I support your request for a medal, and would like to put myself forward for one, for scooping up partially eaten innards of various animals... that's what having cats does for you! LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: Deserving of a medal From: Chief Chaos Date: 25 May 04 - 02:06 PM In the CG we tell each other we want to go OCS. Although you may think that means Officer Candidate School, it actually means Official Civilian Status. |
