Subject: RE: Oban sessions/clubs ? From: Mark Cohen Date: 31 May 04 - 08:45 PM I was in Oban in 1978, part a trip to Britain after internship. It's on the west coast of Scotland, and I got there by train from Edinburgh. Further affiant knoweth naught. Isn't there a "re-created" Stonehenge replica there? Or am I hallucinating again? Aloha, Mark |
Subject: RE: Oban sessions/clubs ? From: JulieF Date: 04 Jun 04 - 04:49 PM I am back. Didn't manage to do anything in Oban - too much fresh air and sunshine ! went straight to sleep in the evenings but had a really good time at the White Hart (Mon) and the Antiquary (Thurs) in Edinburgh. Thanks to all for making me welcome. Julie |
Subject: RE: Oban sessions/clubs ? From: The Borchester Echo Date: 04 Jun 04 - 06:02 PM Mark. It's not a replica Stonehenge but a the result of a 19th century job creation scheme. Known as McCaig's Tower, it was built by the unemployed but never finished and never actually used for anything. Last time I was in Oban about two years ago, the only music I found was in McTavish's restaurant, OK but a bit cheesy and touristy. The food wasn't up to much either. Cross over to Mull and it's much better. |
Subject: RE: Oban sessions/clubs ? From: greg stephens Date: 04 Jun 04 - 06:12 PM The Boat Band sunk the dinghy in Oban harbour with several local drunks on board, on the way back to Harbiger for a pissup. but that, as they say, is another story. |
